VR: Discribe the times revolved around your song "nameone", that led to it to be written:
Authority Figure: "Scout" was written as a direct mockery towards guys who consider themselves players. In a sense, Scout represents the female player; but on a more positive and emotional side. Where a player lacks sensitivity, a scout plays off of sensitivty.
VR: Will mp3.com really provide an avenue for people to make it?
Authority Figure: I think so. They give you the option to make Payback Earnings, don't they?
VR: What is your favorite local venue?
Authority Figure: Casbah... San Diego
VR: What you feel is the most important thing about your music?
Authority Figure: The uniqueness of our sound... how we blend in funk and metal.
VR: What are your plans for the future with your band?
Authority Figure: To be the best damn unsigned band around the S.D. area!
VR: What is your favorite song on the radio?
Authority Figure: Tom Sawyer by Rush
VR: What are your long term goals for the band??
Authority Figure: tour the states is our ultimate goal.
VR: So, tell me..what exactly, motivates you, the artist to write songs?
Authority Figure: What motivates me??? Life.... Death: it don't matter. I had wanted to be a journalist at one time, so naturally I want to write about any topic I possibly can. The majority of our songs right now are about past relationships & being shit on. I am trying to let go of the anger-side of metal & my next line-up of material will be more storytelling.
VR: Most people will never know what it feels like to be on stage in front of a crowd, explain to them that feeling:
Authority Figure: It's like being on display in front of a whole bunch of skeptical people. You have to convince them that you are worth listening to. It's a rush to know you control the show... and the moods in the room.
VR: Where do you want to be a year from now personally?
Authority Figure: Hmmm.... I definantly want a steady source of income. I dunno. Not something like Jack In The Box or McDonalds. More like Blue Meanies or Guitar Center would be nice. Also, I would hope to have my own place by then.
VR: Who drives the tour bus?
Authority Figure: Our Dreams!!
VR: Do your songs have a message?
Authority Figure: Ummm... basically just love yourself. Despite everybody elses dramas, you're still in control of how you live your life. Become the Authority of your own self and the rest will be easy to Figure out!!
VR: What do your lyrics talk about?
Authority Figure: past personal experiences. basic fundamental emotions. change.
VR: Who is your favorite Beatle?
Authority Figure: probably Lennon 'cuz he was the political outcast of them all.
VR: Tell us about the hardest time surrounding a gig or studio project.
Authority Figure: Getting everyone to agree on a time to rehearse. Sometimes it's like pulling teeth! Also, balancing a band budget is the most frustrating thing I've ever encountered!!
VR: How do you write your songs (how do you think of them)?
Authority Figure: My songs arrive as a string of words. Even if it doesn't make sense, I write it down anyway. 'Cuz there had to be a reason why I was thinking it in the 1st place.
VR: What is your favorite song on your current album?
Authority Figure: Beyond The Gust.
VR:
Authority Figure: what??
VR: If you could talk to anyone in the music business, who would it be?
Authority Figure: Jonathan Davis from KoRn. I want to know how he arrives at making a song.
VR: Do you feel that "underground" is just a marketing term like anything else?
Authority Figure: pretty much. It's a way of being "trendy" without appearing to the mass as "trendy"
VR: Name and describe your most memorable gig.
Authority Figure: haven't had one with this band yet.
VR: Who is your favorite unsigned Band?
Authority Figure: Smakdab out of Mason City, IA. Grew up around them so gotta support the locals!
VR: What do you like most about being an INDE artist?
Authority Figure: Freedom to spit on whoever I want.
VR: How long does it take for an average song to go from a musical idea to a recordable song?
Authority Figure: At least a few months... to make sure the sound is tight -n all.
VR: Have you ever paid for advertising for the band?
Authority Figure: Not yet.
VR: How do you guys put songs together?
Authority Figure: We each write our own parts to the song. Everyone is an equal contributor.

Authority Figure: n/a
VR: Has the internet really been helpful to your promotion?
Authority Figure: no, not really. Well, sorta... services such as these aren't that bad. It kinda sux too since San Diego doesn't seem to have a strong network of musicians... AT ALL!
VR: Who are your biggest influences?
Authority Figure: Jim Morrison, Kim Gordon, Jonathan Davis, Morgan, Maria Callas, Allison Moyet
