VR:

Name and describe your most memorable gig.

Bare Feet:

Since we are a brabd new band, the Arizona State Fair ... first time we performed "live" on a large stage in front of a packed house!

VR:

What do your lyrics talk about?

Bare Feet:

Love, Dreams, Old Rock n' Roll. Trying to Fit in

VR:

Who are your biggest influences?

Bare Feet:

So many of the great time artists dating back to Buddy Holly, Richie Valenzuela, Elvis, Ricky Nelson, to the Bryds, Beatles, Stones, Animals, Peter Noone, Hollies, Monkees, Beach Boys, CSN&Y, Moody Blues, Marshall Tucker, Firefall, Tom Petty, Boston, Styx, Led Zepplin, Rush, Tom Petty, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Dylan, Van Morrison, Cat Stevens, Three Dog Night, Grand Funk, just to name a few .....

VR:

Discribe the times revolved around your song "nameone", that led to it to be written:

Bare Feet:

Evolution - I actually wrote that song because we chose "Evolution" as the name for our 3rd album. However, at the time I was also highly out-spoken over the record industry trying to shut down Napster and then MP3.com or in general the "Internet Ariwaves". In a sense the lyrics "trying to fit in" relate to the new distribution model for "free music" on the internet ... we are all trying to fit in someway, somehow. As artists we just want to make a decent living and share our love and passion for music with our fans. The Internet is allowing this to happen for the Independent artist and it has changed my world!

VR:

If you could talk to anyone in the music business, who would it be?

Bare Feet:

Paul McCartney of the Beatles ... I would be interested in his insight and what he has seen and experienced internationally over these last 45 years since Liverpool. His inside knowledge about the record industry and what he thinks about music and song writing in general.

VR:

Who drives the tour bus?

Bare Feet:

Actually we have a lear jet!

VR:

What are your long term goals for the band??

Bare Feet:

Just to build up a small enough fan base to tour the world and visit with great music fans all over the planet. To understand what they like about our music and why? ALso use the experience as a motivator to write more music.

VR:

Tell us about the hardest time surrounding a gig or studio project.

Bare Feet:

Recently, playing for a large private party ... I broke 7 strings on my brand new acoutic Larrivee, all within 2 hours. I had left my other acoustic home. I'll never do that again ....

VR:

What is your favorite song on your current album?

Bare Feet:

Wow! That is a tough one? Perhaps "Airwaves" as this song is a tribute to several of the great Rock n' Roll artists of the century ... and really is a great "new" Rock n' Roll song!

VR:

Where do you think this MP3 business is going?

Bare Feet:

It is going to change. MP3 audio is not the future. Ogg Vorbis is! MP3 audio is not an "open" audio standard, Fraunhofer (and other MPEG consortium members) claim that it is impossible to create an mp3 encoder without infringing on their patents. To create/use an encoder, the law says one must pay royalties to Fraunhofer and other MPEG Consortium members. In other words, you can play what you like, but you're not allowed to contribute without paying the ante. MPEG-4, destined to be the next generation of internet audio, is even more tightly controlled. Ogg Vorbis is a fully Open, non-proprietary, patent-and-royalty-free, general-purpose compressed audio format for high quality audio and music at fixed and variable bitrates from 16 to 128 kbps/channel. This places Vorbis in the same class as audio representations including MPEG-1 audio layer 3, MPEG-4 audio (AAC and TwinVQ), and PAC. More worrisome is the prospect of behind the scenes alliances between MPEG (which dominates the audio technology) with the RIAA/music industry which seeks to control all distribution. Do you really want a corporate alliance controlling what music you can listen to and when? Remember that the RIAA is working hard to make players that play anything other than officially sanctioned streams illegal. I want to keep the music free!
