CK: How do you transport your equipment to the gig?
Age of Metalence: Any way we can, Daniel has a truck, and I have a Surburban and a Jimmy at my disposal, so yeah, we get there
CK: Give us a run down of your audio equipment:
Age of Metalence: Me, I play Jackson guitars through Line 6 Amps. Drummer plays Pacific Drums with Sabian Cymbals, Daniel plays Peavey Basses through Ampeg Amps.
CK: If you could put on a show anywhere were would it be?
Age of Metalence: Probabaly Fleet Center in Boston, Mass. That would definatly be a memorible show.
CK: If your band could open for a headlining act, who would it be and why?
Age of Metalence: Probably Metallica, and mainly because they've been our major influence from the start, and they put on a hell of a show.
CK: Who are your biggest influences?
Age of Metalence: As far as the band goes... BLS, Metallica, and Dream Theater
CK: If you could talk to anyone in the music business, who would it be?
Age of Metalence: Probably Kirk Hammett or John Petrucci.
CK: Name and describe your most memorable gig.
Age of Metalence: It would have to be at Wright Park in Satsuma, AL. It was our first show as Age of Metalence, but the cops came and fucked it up.
CK: How did you/all learn to play, self or school?
Age of Metalence: Self-taught, totally.
CK: What made you want to pursue songwriting?
Age of Metalence: I figured I'd never be anything without it, and I didn't want to be another artist that has no talent.
CK: What genre(s) would you say your music is under?
Age of Metalence: Thrash/Metal/Progressive
CK: Do you feel that "underground" is just a marketing term like anything else?
Age of Metalence: Depends on how it is used.
CK: Most people will never know what it feels like to be on stage in front of a crowd, explain to them that feeling:
Age of Metalence: I guess you could say it feels like you're spilling out your heart to your crush... and when you see the people really getting into it, it's kind of like she admits to having the same feelings. Its great.
CK: Who is your favorite unsigned Band?
Age of Metalence: Dawn of Man.
CK: Do you have a street or e-team system in place? Want one for your website?
Age of Metalence: Not as of yet, although we are looking into it.
CK: Introduce the members in the band:
Age of Metalence: Well, we got Jack Saucier on the drums, Daniel Saucier on the bass and Jason Stringfellow singing
CK: Can you name a few of you favorite places on the web for band promotions?
Age of Metalence: Definatly PureVolume.com and Soundclick.com
CK: Has the internet really been helpful to your promotion?
Age of Metalence: Of course! We have people as far away as England wanting to hear more of us
CK: Tell us about your worst gig and why it was so bad.
Age of Metalence: Our first, we played a bunch of Skynyrd covers at a small place in the middle of nowhere. Noone got into it, and we really sucked. I guess you could call it a learning expierence
CK: What makes you and your band unique?
Age of Metalence: We all like something different. Jack is really into older music(Jimi, Skynyrd, etc.), Daniel is into funk, Jason is a die-hard metalhead, and I like everything from Jazz to Classical and everything inbetween.
CK: Do you do any recording on your own?
Age of Metalence: Well, we were thinking about it, but we decided it would be better if we had a pro do it for us.
CK: What is important to you about the music?
Age of Metalence: To me, it has to be everything I expect and more, has to have feeling, and meaning. I can't sit back and enjoy a meaningless song
CK: Tell us about your website:
Age of Metalence: It was designed by Excelex Designs, and I think they did a great job. We wanted something simple but complex.
CK: Where do you practice as a band and how often?
Age of Metalence: My place, as often as needed.
CK: How long does it take for an average song to go from a musical idea to a recordable song?
Age of Metalence: It can be anywhere from 4 days to a month.
CK: What are your plans for the future with your band?
Age of Metalence: What else? Become the next Metallica
CK: Are you looking to get a record deal? Why?
Age of Metalence: Definatly. Where are you without a record deal?
CK: How many members in the band write music?
Age of Metalence: Well, as far as lyrics go, its me, Jason and Jack. Everyone writes their own music though
CK: What would you like to change about your city's local music scene?
Age of Metalence: The fact that everyone is so on Death Metal. No offence, but its bullshit.
CK: Let us say that you have been just signed by a major label and they say time to move 2500 miles. Now what, would you be able to move?
Age of Metalence: Definaly. I hate this place anyway, it would give me a good excuse to move.
CK: Describe your typical stage show performance. Give us a hint into what we might expect to see are your show.
Age of Metalence: Well, its basically us jumping around. We're really energetic. We do also interact with the crowd, we'll have them sing along with what they know. Hell, maybe even invite someone onstage.
CK: What you feel is the most important thing about your music?
Age of Metalence: Talent, creativity and meaning. Music is nothing without those three.
CK: So, tell me..what exactly, motivates you, the artist to write songs?
Age of Metalence: Different things, sometimes I'll be laying in my bed at 2 in the morning and something will pop into my head... other times I'll be walking through a store, all depends
CK: What is your favorite local venue?
Age of Metalence: The cell block in Downtown Mobile.
CK: How big of an impact do you think the underground, indie scene has on the current pop culture?
Age of Metalence: Somewhat.
CK: When did you first start singing, what made you choose music?
Age of Metalence: Ehh long story, it began when I was about 13, I was offered guitar lessons. I took a few and I was on my way.
CK: Have you ever paid for advertising for the band?
Age of Metalence: Of course, who else is going to?
CK: How experienced are you or the band on the stage?
Age of Metalence: Not trying to sound arrogant, but we have what it takes.
CK: What do you like most about being an INDE artist?
Age of Metalence: It's alright, its all about learning for me.
CK: What is your favorite song on your current album?
Age of Metalence: It would have to be Angels of Death or Innocence Faded. Definatly kick-ass songs.
CK: Are there any established artists with whom you would like to collaborate?
Age of Metalence: I wouldnt mind doing something with Dream Theater or Black Label.
