When did you first start singing, what made you choose music?

Death Afterlife:

I started singing in a band in 1996. I have been playing music with Jason and Shannon for 8 years now. I started singing in Death Afterlife in January of 2004 with Jason, Shannon and Nathan. Nathan has been in other bands before and has been playing the drums for about 5 years.


CK:

Let us say that you have been just signed by a major label and they say time to move 2500 miles. Now what, would you be able to move?

Death Afterlife:

Hell yeah!! We all would. We have worked our lives around the goal of making it somewhere with our music. I would walk that far it that is what it took.


CK:

Who is your favorite unsigned Band?

Death Afterlife:

Shit.......hard question........so many....I will just say that any band that is out there doing their own thing and writing original music has my respect.


CK:

Tell us about your worst gig and why it was so bad.

Death Afterlife:

Even the bad ones are still great. I try to focus on the positive things that happen at our shows.


CK:

Describe your typical stage show performance. Give us a hint into what we might expect to see are your show.

Death Afterlife:

We just go out and do our thing. We get our energy from the crowd and they draw from us. We give it all we have.


CK:

So, tell me..what exactly, motivates you, the artist to write songs?

Death Afterlife:

We love what we are doing.

How many members in the band write music?

Death Afterlife:

All of us

What would you like to change about your city's local music scene?

Death Afterlife:

everything!

If your band could open for a headlining act, who would it be and why?

Death Afterlife:

Pan-fucking-tera if they get back together, because they are the gods of our style of music.

Death Afterlife:

yeah, we do some home recording.

How do you transport your equipment to the gig?

Death Afterlife:

in a van

Are you looking to get a record deal? Why?

Death Afterlife:

Yes, but not really a big time thing. We just want something that will support us and help promote our music. An indi would be nice as long as they can do more for us than we can do for ourselves.

Name and describe your most memorable gig.

Death Afterlife:

I remember them all as great times.

Have you ever paid for advertising for the band?

Death Afterlife:

yes

If you could put on a show anywhere were would it be?

Death Afterlife:

hmmmmmmmm....everywhere

What you feel is the most important thing about your music?

Death Afterlife:

How experienced are you or the band on the stage?

Death Afterlife:

We have a few under our belts. We grow with each show we play and the next show always seems to be better than the previous.

What is important to you about the music?

Death Afterlife:

Writing what I feel and telling my story to the people who want to listen. Our fans are the most important thing about our music.

Death Afterlife:

Our site is simple and to the point. It was designed to be easy to navigate and let you find out what you want about the band.


CK:

What makes you and your band unique?

Death Afterlife:

We live and play in a small one horse town in South Georgia. We write the kind of music that we want to hear and the fans seem to love it. We do not copy anybody. Oue sound is totaly original and you would be hard-pressed to find a band that you could compare us to.


CK:

Has the internet really been helpful to your promotion?

Death Afterlife:

It allows us to reach out and spread the word. We can many of our fans know what is going on with the band in seconds and can connect with people all over the world.


CK:

Do you have a street or e-team system in place? Want one for your website?

Death Afterlife:

Yes, we have a street team. We call them street demons, but we do not have an e-team. We wouldn't mind having one though.

What do you like most about being an INDE artist?

Death Afterlife:

Freedom...FReedom...FREdom...FREEDOM

How did you/all learn to play, self or school?

Death Afterlife:

We are all self taught.


CK:

Where do you practice as a band and how often?

Death Afterlife:

We practice at Jason's house 3 times a week.


CK:

What is your favorite local venue?

Death Afterlife:

So far it had been Putter's Sports Bar


CK:

What are your plans for the future with your band?

Death Afterlife:

We are trying to set up an east coast tour right now and we then plan to play as many places as we can.


CK:

If you could talk to anyone in the music business, who would it be?

Death Afterlife:

It would have been Johnny Cash (R.I.P) now I am not sure. I would want to talk to someone who is professional and has an ear for our style of music.


CK:

How big of an impact do you think the underground, indie scene has on the current pop culture?

Death Afterlife:

Pop culture is underground........just yesterday's underground.

Are there any established artists with whom you would like to collaborate?

Death Afterlife:

Who are your biggest influences?

Death Afterlife:

We have many favorite bands, but I would not say that they really inluenced us.


CK:

Most people will never know what it feels like to be on stage in front of a crowd, explain to them that feeling:

Death Afterlife:

It is like the first time you have good sex except you get to do it over and over and over again.


CK:

Do you feel that "underground" is just a marketing term like anything else?

Death Afterlife:

Yes, to a certain extent, but we live in the underground and if that is a marketing term I hope some one will remind me where the revenue is.


CK:

How long does it take for an average song to go from a musical idea to a recordable song?

Death Afterlife:

We normally get the backbone of a song done is 2 practices, but finishing touches usually take about 4 to 5. We throw around ideas all of the time and sometimes they do not fit at the momment, so we pull them out at times they do.


CK:

What is your favorite song on your current album?

Death Afterlife:

Out of the ashe, because it is the first song I wrote after coming back from a two year retirement.


CK:

What made you want to pursue songwriting?

Death Afterlife:

not quite sure.
