A Popup Interview with Burn Like Nero

VR: Tell us a story about the making of a song:
Burn Like Nero: Most songs start out with a basic structure we've worked up in Reason. Cities and Stars, though, started out in Acid. I [David] wrote up some lyrics and sent 'em to Ed. He tweaked them and made them better. We got together and hammered out the rest of the song in just a couple hours. Our practice take is nearly perfect.
VR: Have you ever paid for advertising for the band?
Burn Like Nero: Yes.
VR: Nice shirt your wearing, where did you find that?
Burn Like Nero: Hmm... in my closet this morning. Before that, I have no recollection.
VR: Give us a run down of your audio equipment:
Burn Like Nero: I play Samick and Danelectro basses through a Zoom effects pedal and Behringer amp. Ed plays a MiniKorg, Radium, and the Mac.
VR: Who are your biggest influences?
Burn Like Nero: Joy Division, Soft Cell, Kraftwerk, Japan, Gary Numan, Ultravox
VR: How long does it take for an average song to go from a musical idea to a recordable song?
Burn Like Nero: Sometimes just a few hours. Others we sit on for weeks before doing anything with them.
VR: What are your plans for the future with your band?
Burn Like Nero: Record more, play more, see more.
VR: Name and describe your most memorable gig.
Burn Like Nero: Videotaping "I, Computer".
VR: Somethings burning.. Did you leave dinner on the stove?
Burn Like Nero: Only my neighbor's head.
VR: If you could put on a show anywhere were would it be?
Burn Like Nero: Manchester, for obvious reasons.
