A Popup Interview with Angels Obsession
[ Artist Website ] | [ Buy Our CD ]
VR: Who is your favorite unsigned Band?
Angels Obsession: Probably ourselves LOL but other than that....hmm....it's hard to say.
VR: If your band could open for a headlining act, who would it be and why?
Angels Obsession: Hanson! Because they have been such an inspiration to us, and because we have such respect for their work and what they do.
VR: Tell us about the hardest time surrounding a gig or studio project.
Angels Obsession: Uh...when we had to go into the studio the first time we lost our drummer and had to reschedule the session so when we had finally gotten a new drummer she had to drop out right before the recording session due to College.
VR: Do you have all your songs downloadable at mp3.com?
Angels Obsession: No not yet, but hopefully soon.
VR: Most people will never know what it feels like to be on stage in front of a crowd, explain to them that feeling:
Angels Obsession: It's the most amazing feeling in the world to see people getting into your music and just having a good time. There's no better feeling it really is a rush.
VR: What you feel is the most important thing about your music?
Angels Obsession: Probably that we can use it to express personal experiances that alot of people can hopefully relate to themselves.
VR: What made you want to pursue songwriting?
Angels Obsession: It's the only way really. I think at least for us we have more respect for the artists that write their own songs.
VR: Has the internet really been helpful to your promotion?
Angels Obsession: Yes and no. We had a bit of an incident on our fan club awhile back but other than that it's been pretty good.
VR: Do you or your organization promote up and coming artists:
Angels Obsession: We have been thinking of starting a website to promote other unsigned Canadian artists but we haven't really had a lot of time to work on the idea.
VR: Will mp3.com really provide an avenue for people to make it?
Angels Obsession: I think mp3.com is a good place to get your music heard and start creating a buzz about your band.
VR: What do your lyrics talk about?
Angels Obsession: A lot of love. Heartbreak, happiness, and pure love. But I think alot of people can relate to love songs the most.
VR: If you could talk to anyone in the music business, who would it be?
Angels Obsession: Good question...that's a tough one there are so many people that if we had the chance we'd love to talk to I don;t think we could pick one specific person.
VR: Who drives the tour bus?
Angels Obsession: LOL Ashley! No just kidding...we don't have one yet we only wish.
VR: What is your favorite chord?
Angels Obsession: Favorite chord? Wow strange question...I don't think I have one.
VR: Are there any established artists with whom you would like to collaborate?
Angels Obsession: Oh absolutly! I think it'd be amazing to be able to collaborate with artists such as M2M and Hanson and maybe even Michelle Branch.
VR: Give us a run down of your audio equipment:
Angels Obsession: Hm...well a very old amp, two Shure SM58's and a Shure wireless headset mic.
VR: What is your favorite local venue?
Angels Obsession: Well not that we're played here yet but we love to play at Massey Hall.
VR: What would you change about the music business in general?
Angels Obsession: I think just the fact that everyone is so shallow. If you aren't drop dead gorgeous then you can't make it no matter how good a voice you have.
VR: So, tell me..what exactly, motivates you, the artist to write songs?
Angels Obsession: Anything...Everything. You can get inspired just by looking out the window. But personal experiances and things that you heard that happened to a friend or someone they know can insipre you to write a song.
VR: What have you enjoyed the most about doing what you do?
Angels Obsession: I think the thing we enjoy most is performing. It's the greatest rush!
VR: If you could put on a show anywhere were would it be?
Angels Obsession: South By Southwest!
It's a great place to get noticed and attract some industry attention.
VR: How long does it take for an average song to go from a musical idea to a recordable song?
Angels Obsession: I think that really depends on how into that peticular song you are.
VR: Where do you want to be a year from now personally?
Angels Obsession: We hope to be either on the verge of a record deal or signed. That's the dream for us.
VR: Do you desire to come up with a new form of music or do you like safety in numbers?
Angels Obsession: Every new artist or band that comes out is in a way a new form of music. Everyone has their own style.
VR: What do you like most about being an INDE artist?
Angels Obsession: Everything we love what we're doing and we just hope that we can keep doing it.
