VR:

What made you want to pursue songwriting?

Amy of soulbelly:

Ever since I was a little girl I loved to sing. I would stand in front of our fireplace holding a spoon as a mic and sing along to records at the top of my lungs. I remember making up songs about my cat or whatever while folding the laundry or doing other chores.

VR:

Do you desire to come up with a new form of music or do you like safety in numbers?

Amy of soulbelly:

I pretty much just write whatever comes to me. Anything can inspire me. I have written quite a variety of styles of songs. I guess whatever comes spewing out is what it is.

VR:

Virtually Records needs a theme song, would you be interested?

Amy of soulbelly:

sure, we're down wid it.

VR:

Where would you want to be musically say a year from now?

Amy of soulbelly:

making a living doing what I love.

VR:

Tell us about your website:

Amy of soulbelly:

We have an amazing photographer Chris Strother who has done all of our photo shoots. We have lots of reviews and MP3's and real audio. We are constantly updating and adding stuff to keep our fans coming back for more!

VR:

Do your songs have a message?

Amy of soulbelly:

Mostly they are just about life. Relationships, etc...Some are serious, some funny. Depends on our mood when we're writing.

VR:

Do you or your organization promote up and coming artists:

Amy of soulbelly:

We are them.

VR:

Are there any established artists with whom you would like to collaborate?

Amy of soulbelly:

yes

VR:

How important do you think tour support is?

Amy of soulbelly:

well, of course an unlimited fund would be ideal, but we are a thrifty band and can be creative. We've survived this far on a limited budget and Starbuck's.

VR:

So, tell me..what exactly, motivates you, the artist to write songs?

Amy of soulbelly:

Oftentimes difficulty in relationships or a sense of frustration about something. For some reason I'm more moved to write during those times than when everything is smooth sailing.
