VR: What have you enjoyed the most about doing what you do?
Baby Dee: I love making music that people love. I love writing songs, & then hear people sing along to them or talk about certain parts later that they can relate to.
VR: How important do you think tour support is?
Baby Dee: I haven't gone on tour yet, but I hope to be touring really soon.
VR: How long does it take for an average song to go from a musical idea to a recordable song?
Baby Dee: Usually it takes about four to six hours to write a full song. I usually don't write a whole song in a day, I usually write, leave, then write again, then scribble a bunch out, & rewrite it before Im pleased with it. Then I think about the mood of the song and try to bring that out with the production of the music. I recently have produced my own demo from my basement with just a computer program. Producing the music usually takes a few hours & I usually accomplish this in the same day, sometimes I produce up to four songs a day.
VR: Nice shirt your wearing, where did you find that?
Baby Dee: I got it at Mr Ragz, Its a Tommy Hilfiger sweater.
VR: What you feel is the most important thing about your music?
Baby Dee: My music is like a counseling for me. I write to get shit off my chest & help release certain emotions that Im feeling at that time.
VR: What are your thoughts about the solar system?
Baby Dee: Next Question.
VR: Where would you want to be musically say a year from now?
Baby Dee: I hope to be signed to a record label. It doesnt have to be one of the major labels, just a label that is as hungry as I am to succeed & that is in it for longevity.
VR: Do you have all your songs downloadable at mp3.com?
Baby Dee: No, but I do have few of them. (www.mp3.com/babyd)
VR: Do your songs have a message?
Baby Dee: All of my songs have a message, a song without a message is like a book without a moral.
VR: What would you change about the music business in general?
Baby Dee: The music business is just a really hard business to get into. Its a twenty-four hour shift, meaning that I'm pretty much working all day everyday to better my chances of being successful.I wouldn't change much about the music business at all.
VR: What are your plans for the future with your band?
Baby Dee: My plan is to keep working and keep pushing to succeed. I will succeed one way or another, like I've said before, I may encounter a few setbacks but Im either going to succeed or I'm going to die trying.
VR: Discribe the times revolved around your song "nameone", that led to it to be written:
Baby Dee: During the time when "Dee Speaks" was written, I was taking alot of shit from people who didn't think I could rap. They were mostly assuming I was an unskilled emcee, (This was one of the first songs heard off of the demo)Once the song came out, they either had more beef or shut their mouth, either way they knew..they knew what was up.
VR: Has the internet really been helpful to your promotion?
Baby Dee: Its been nothing but helpful. I'm on like twenty different sites, promoting my music. Ive gotten plenty of contacts from the internet & have sent and received email that have helped my career.
VR: Tell us a story about the making of a song:
Baby Dee:
VR: If your band could open for a headlining act, who would it be and why?
Baby Dee: I would love to open for Jay-Z, because he is one of my favorite artists right now and has been for quite some time.
