Corner,End,Gate Grade Marks Table
Measure down from the top and mark your poles with the tables below. These marks represent the bottom of the fence. You use this to determain if you are setting them to tight or lose to the ground. In general, fences look best level or straight across the top.
[1] On the corner,end & gate poles, I like to mark a line all the way around 2 inches down from the top, this is your line pole grade for "Back-Sighting". I'll explain Back-Sighting in a later article.

The loopcap and top rail make up 3 inches so line poles should be 3 inches shorter then the fence height.
