converting 2ohm speakers to 4ohm

Hi all,
I am looking to replace the Bose system in my car (probably one step at a time) since the amplifiers are dead/dying and was told by a friend that each Bose 2ohm speaker can be modified to present a 4ohm load as if it were a regular aftermarket speaker. Then they would be ok to drive with an new aftermarket head unit. Is this true, does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks for any input.
J

not really sure on that one, unless they were talking about running two in parallel.
Most aftermarket amplifiers are now 2ohm stable even in 4ch amps. Why not look into one of these?

you mean in series.

You can add high pwr resistors, but I would not recommend it.
