Does anyone use the car audio chat room?

just curious. I like the message board setup because it gives us time to do a little research before posting a reply.
Didn't know if there was anyone interested in setting a time or day that we could all get together and just chat, and get to know each other.

Same here.. have checked it many times and no activity on that side of the site.

Anyone like the idea of adding an "OFF TOPIC", general conversation segment to the site? Not a chat room per-se, but more like a place to hang out, talk about other things besides Car Audio and get to know others more? If interested, I can check on that with Walt. The chat room seems not to be effective in this case.

PS KIT.. feel the same way! Sometimes a little research is needed before we can come up with a good solution to helping others here. I need that time to hash out the best options possible and these can be difficult to come up with off the cuff or on the fly.

I like the idea of an off topic forum if it dosen't take away from the audio discussion. It would be a good way to bring more traffic to the site, and keep people around. I usually reply to the posts and hang out for an hour or so waiting on replies. A general discussion could keep people around and give us something to do in the meantime. It could also give people a personal knowledge of each member and what their strengths and experience is.

For anyone interested, I am going to try to set a gathering time for the chat room. 9pm seems to be the ideal time so far, I work nights and live on the east coast, so I am at work at that time.. maybe saturday nights for me. Please post your ideal time and day(s).

I work for now 12:30 at night to 9:00 in the morning. pacific time and other then those times i'm always around so any day would work for me to set up a chat session.

You mean there are other things than Car Audio?

Are you sure Swez?

Just kidding, but yeah, maybe an off topic area would be a good idea. Like when people are looking for advice on a laptop, or moving to Florida, etc... Not to point anyone out specifically....... Ha Ha.

I think maybe we should have an "Ask Swez" section as well. Sort of like 'dear abby', but directed all to Swez. How about it Walter?

I think I will just make it a habit to log into the chat room whenever I log on to this forum. maybe things will pickup if someone is already there.

Maybe I lied... can't seem to stay logged in to the chat room. I keep getting the following message-
Does anyone know what this computer babble means??
Tray? Walt?

Database error: Invalid SQL: select uid, name from R__chatuser where rid =
MySQL error: 1064 (You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1)

Looks like we will have to get a better chat room.

I think it's a great idea for an Off Topic and other forums.. Let me work on that..

I know you are busy, Walt, but I was wondering if there was any new word on the photo feature I asked about. no hurry, and I do appreciate all you have done with this site.. the best one I have ever seen. very easy to use, and professionally designed.
Thanks again

The photo system is in the works along with quite a few others. It looks like it will be well into Jan 2004 before I will be able to finish up. Thinks are tough at home and work right now making it difficult to get any programming done. Wish I had more time..

cplkittle - Well, not that you can do anything about it, but it basically means that the code behind the chatroom can't handle the high traffic in the chat room. Ha Ha, no, but really it looks like there's an error tracking who is logged in, when you are the only one in the room.

I can't say for sure without being at home to test it, but I would guess if you had more than 1 person in the room, you wouldn't see that error.

I can log in, and get the window, but when I type anything, and submit it, it just shoots it into cyberspace. Nothing ever comes back up on the screen. I can't test this without being at home either, but it may be the functionality of the web chat program that doesn't show your own submissions.

That is what I was seeing, and in the top right corner I got the message posted above.. had to maximize the window to read it.
