Ok i have had my subs for quite a while now in my new truck but just for the past 2 months or so its been too cold to drive with the windows down. and after i started driving with them up there was this horrible rattling and i finaly tracked it down about 2 weeks ago but i cant seem to get it to stop. my truck has one of those rear sliding windows. and the thing rattles like there is now tommarow. I have tryed putting differnt items to prop the clip lock on it and other parts tighter but none of it seem to get rid of more then 50% of that rattlign... any suggestions?

you could try using some of that foam-like stuff that you use in your house around doors to stop the draft.....just slam that in between and lock it.

i tried that but the preasure is pushing so much that i stil rattles. i'm working on getting some better foam stuff but i was hoping for something that wasnt quite that obscenly ugly hehe:)

It may be the windows themselves and not the latch, try putting a thin piece of foam or cardboard inbetween the glass and the felt seal where they slide against one another, and/or try putting something between the sliding glass and the stationary glass where they meet.
Other than that, I have no idea.

well the main part of the rattling is the glass but it isnt as anoying as the latch the latch vibrates at a much higher pitch so it cuts threw the bass more. and i cant use carboard its rainy here if i do that it well seep threw into the car hehe. i'm trying to get some weather striping like stuff for inbetween but its going to be awfukly uglyu looking of a fix hehe. i was hoping somone else had this problem and had found a nice looking fix. and if my alpine type R 10's push enough air to do this then when i get a set of nice 12's looking at W7's and ED A series. then those are going to shake that window like hell

I had the same problem in my 2000 F150. I ended up taking the entire latch apart and rebuilding it.

I had to get a larger diameter pin to hold the latch in place, and then I used some of the rubberized dip you can put tool handles into. It was black, so couldn't even tell that I had done it.

Then, once I put it all back together, it fit like a glove, and once I worked it enough to open again, there were never any more rattles.

so it was just the latch makeing the noise? i can never tell if its the latch or the whole window... the whole thing definatly moves but the latch always seems to be a good amount of the anoying noise anyway. if so that sounds like the best idea yet and one i would not haf thought of probaly. thanks all

Well, the window was the part which was moving, but since it has a protective edge everywhere, I figured out that it couldn't be making the noise.

Where the latch isn't really moving, it's just a reprocussion of the window moving, it is a combination of metal and plastic parts, which, especially when cold, have a lot of room to vibrate, and when done at the right speed will be just annoying enough to make you want to scream.
