Can anyone advise me on how to install a new cd/mp3 head unit into this truck ? There doesnt seem to be much behind the dash. Is there special hardware I can buy to help ?

The dash has the rectangular opening and round holes for an old radio, but there doesnt seem to be a shelf or bracket behind to attach the sleeve for the new radio...

That will have to be cut out for a new radio to fit in. As far as the radio mounting, you could always ask an installer how he would do it, or just use some ingenuity. There is a ground bolt on the back of most stereos, I have used this to support the back end of stereos before. I don't know of any special hardware or equiptment personally, not to say there isn't any out there. anyone else know?

what kind of truck are we talking about? Is this a work truck with beer cans in the bed, or is it something a little better taken care of? It can be done, but making it look good takes some practice and time. If I remember that truck correctly, the radio is in the lower right corner of the dash. There is a plastic cover or a metal frame. You have to take the plastic cover off, remove the stock radio, then put the plastic cover back on and break out the saw-zaw...... None of this is ever just that easy as the dash is normally very brittle, and cracks and breaks easily. Us a 1/4" din trim ring to make it a littlle better looking(You have to round the lower right corner down to match the dash). If you are not concerned about the appearence, and you have all the tools, have at it. It is a little challenging, but not impossable. Only you know if you can do it.
