1st i have an alpine head unit and its been hooked up for about a year and just tonight it turns off when i turn the lights off. It only works w/ the lights on, but what gets me is that i only have the constant and aux hooked up.

2nd i have 2 atomic ELE's hooked up to 2 cadence 1200 watt mono blocks, they are both hooked up the same but when the bass hits one sub pushed out while the other sucks in. They are in a ported box. I know its probally out of phase but does anyone know what to correct this?

that is strange that this just started to happen all of a sudden. have you done any changes to the system? It sounds as though the ignition input on the deck is hooked up to your illumination or dimmer in the car.

As for the subs, yes they are out of phase. Just swap the speaker wires on one of the subs and they will work fine. Does not matter which one.

are your subs in the same box and do they share airspace?
if not use ttocs suggestion,
if so, one of them may either be out of phase, or you have a wire loose, and the compression from the other speaker is moving it.

okay i got the head unit sorted out, but now both subs are out of phase. What do you mean just swap the speaker wires, swap the + & - ??

do that on one speaker. A speaker is nothing more then an electric motor. If you swap the polarity(switch the pos and neg input), the motor works exactly the same, just backwards.

When you have two speakers that are wired out of phase, one speaker moves an inch forward, the other moves a inch backward. There is no net loss in volume if the box is not independendly sealed(a seperate enclosure for each speaker), and no or very little sound..

okay i switched the wires but that did not work, each sub is DVC and is run off of their own amp, they share the same airspace in a ported box, but both of the subs are out of phase and i cannot figure it out

try just hooking one up at a time since they share the same airspace, see if you get the same performance out of each sub with the other unhooked. It sounds like one is pushing harder than the other one meaning one is either wired up wrong, or there is a loose wire somewhere and one speaker is moving from the pressure of the other. Also check your wiring on the DVCs, they are easy to hook up wrong.
