....... should i sell my 2 - 12 L7s and get a pair of rockford fosgate power hx2 12 in ?? or should i just keep saving my money for some w7s ?? Replies (10) cplkittle on 12/7/2003 16:41:01 that is up to you, W7s kick some serious butt, but fosgate is not far behind in my opinion. Why not put both the L7s and the W7s in the back? you have plenty of room :) eRKMaN619 on 12/7/2003 17:19:06 haha thanks well what do you think are better subs ?? rockford of kicker ? cplkittle on 12/8/2003 16:12:16 honestly I haven't had the opportunity to compare them head to head, but based on the fact that I still see alot of the old school fosgate speakers in cars still, i am going to go with fosgate. eRKMaN619 on 12/8/2003 23:10:31 ya i dont know .. i've been going to local audio stores and asking them about rockford and they have been telling me that Rockford Fosgate isn't as great as they used to be and their quality is being outbeaten by other companies that aren't even name brand soo I am not sure ... I really want to get some new subs soon though but I am having trouble on which to pick .. if anyone has any other advice about the power hx2's please tell me thanks kiaman on 12/9/2003 00:29:42 hola...thought id jump in here, if the car audio shop that told you that about fosgate dosnt sell fosgate, then thats why they told you that. down here theres 3 major stero shops, one ONLY sells fosgate, one mainley sells JL and one mainly sells kicker, the kicker guys dont sell JL and the JL guys dont sell kicker, and they will sit there and flat out lie to you about why they dont carry them. i had a conversation with one of the guys at stero grage (they mainly sell JL) and i asked him why they dont sell kicker, he told me because kicker dosnt make quality stuff, and he didnt kno i know the owner, and ive talked to the owner b4 and the owner said Kicker wont give them a contract because they are to close to another kicker dealer and thats why they dont sell them. but if they do sell fosgate, and they told u that then well they are just dumb. ok now as far as wich is better the Power HX2's or the L7's....the power HX2's will most likeley get louder (depending on the amp/box combo you have), have more power handeling than the L7's. as for SQ, neither one will take the cake.....ive heard both....and both can get really low.....but will not sound like a dream......there are many other subs out there that will get loud and sound good to.....Alpine type R's......JBL GTI's......infinity kappa perfercts.......and according to ppl here the shiva.....brahama......12A.....and the RE XXX......the last 4 i havent heard for my self so i cant give an opnion on them......but any of the other subs i can vouch for.....in the proper ported enclouser and with the right amp.....will get louder than you will want to go......(dual 12's or 15's) and will cost probally about 1/2 of what a dual JL W7 system will cost, also be probally 1/2 of what you would pay for the fosgates.......there are many options out there.....dont limit your self to the most expensive. Swez on 12/9/2003 06:32:13 Agreed... Kicker, JL and RF all make "good subs". Depends on what you are looking for though. JL and RF can net very good SQ bass with good SPL as well. Kicker is more of an SPL sub, but can go pretty low in a larger enclosure. All this assumes you have the power to get them bumping. Some of the other subs mentioned by Kia are also very good contenders. Lower cost than the big names, better Tech Support in many cases too. It's really a big roster out there of new products. All depends on how much amping power, $$ and design time of the enclosure you wish to invest. What do you not like about the L7's now and what would you like to improve on in your next design? Swez eRKMaN619 on 12/10/2003 19:49:00 thanks a lot guys ... well my L7 kickers they hit i have to admit but they don't really have a nice clean bass to it ... I was gonna sell my kickers and get to power hx2's for $199 a piece but I didn't want to do that and then i find out that my kickers hit harder than the power hx2's ... My friend has 2- 10 w7 and it hits harder than my kickers and it sounds really clean .. It's too expensive though so I looked at the next top of the line subs for another brand .. and i chose rockford fosgate ... So i was just wondering if I should sell them and get the power hx2's or should i just keep my 12's and maybe buy 3rd one ... will me buying a 3rd one even make a difference .. ? Please help me because two of my friends are willing to buy them and I want to tell them asap if I am going to sell them or not .. and about all of those other subs ya i heard they sound good too but if you guys could narrow them down to like maybe two brands it would help thanks .. cuz i wouldn't really know which one to choose out of all of those other companies .. eRKMaN619 on 12/14/2003 15:42:32 OPINIONS OPEN TO EVERYONE PLEASE ! cplkittle on 12/14/2003 15:50:34 go to a car audio place and check out the selection, listen to them, ask questions, tell them what you want. Then come back and order them online and save a few hundred dollars. Kickers will not give you clean sound. In my opinion the cleanest sounding subs that I have heard are: P.Miller series (Master P series from bazooka) Infinity JBL GT series Pioneer Premier series Those are the only 4 I can personally say impressed me. Swez on 12/15/2003 06:03:15 I would add that there are many great subs out there to choose from. Some of the popular names are: JBL Infinity (Kappa or Perfects) Adire Shiva, Tempest or Brahma Alpine Type R Elemental Designs Alumapro Resonant Engineering Orion JL Many more than can be mentioned here... but all subs noted above and by CPL are better than average performance. There are a lot of gems out there... and a lot of rocks (junk) too. The key to good bass performance is a well designed enclosure and adequate power to run your subs to full potential. Even a cheap sub can sound great if the box is right and enough power to get them bumpin. A good plan of attack is the key! Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
