JBL Power BPX2200.1

I'm hopin to get the JBL Power BPX2200.1. I'm workin on selling my Audiobahn A2200HCX for about $250. This would be great for my subs, since I can wire them series for 4 ohm load bridged, I'd have to with this amp, I could still get the 2200 rms out of it. Would this be a good idea?

I've got 2 questions I'm wondering about though.

1. What kind of amperage would this pull on my alternator/batt. I'm upgrading to a 200 amp alt in a few weeks. I know that'll be plenty to run this amp, just wondering how much I'd have left

2. Could I find this somewhere cheaper then $500 from ebay? I don' t trust ebay, never have. crutchfield doesn't have it, thezeb doesn't even carry jbl... and sounddomain run it about $1500 i guess, they have both their price and the retail slashed so i don't know.

Thanks

read the DIY article for the amperage question, it has alot of useful knowledge. Alternators and Charging systems By: xplicitblitzboi

As far as finding a cheaper price, I have had a hard time beating ebay. I have ordered around $850 from different sellers on ebay within the last 6 months, and haven't had any problems. Everything arrives intact and within 5 business days. Not to say there would never be a problem. Read the sellers feedback, and ask them questions before you buy. I always use paypal as well. Both ebay and paypal have several buyer protection features to ensure safety.

That won't tell me what kinda of amperage this amplifier will pull from my electricals. I'm getting a 200 amp alternator, I know I can run it, I will be able to run almost any amplifier off of this. My question is how much would I have left for the 40-60 amps needed for my car?

lol Maybe I might actually buy off of ebay for once. But if I buy from a non-authorized dealer and it's bad when I get it, the only thing I can do is see if the people I bought it from will trade me...

What I don't get about this amp is it will put out 2200 rms at 1 or 4 ohms. It said something about increasing the voltage, I'd really not like to do that. More current would make me happy rather then voltages ranging up to 30v. That's basically like clipping the amp when it's gettin that high.

a 200 amp alternator with a good (800+cca) deep cycle battery should be more than sufficient to take care of your needs.
http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/
The maximum current draw for the JBL Power BPX2200.1 is 190A. The recommended minimum wire gauge for an installation less than 10' from the battery is 2x 4AWG wires.
(source www.jbl.com) download the manual for this under products/amps/BPX2200
I would not recommend running this system with the ignition off.

According to the PDF file, (http://manuals.harman.com/JBL/CAR/Owner%27s%20Manual/Power%20Series%20Px%20BPx%20Amp%20OM%20FINAL.pdf) this amp pulls 190amps at peak times. As for home much amperage is left to run the rest of your car, theres no specific answer. It depends on how hard you are pushing your amp, the harder you push it, the more amps it will draw from your electrical system. When is starts to draw more then your system can handle, youll notice, ie headlight dimming

Ok the JBL powervalve BP1200.1 pulls 114amps and you have almost double the wattage so almost double the amp pull at full go depending on how much you crank up the volume you will probably need a bigger alt.
