yeah the one swez wrote...but ive been told on my particular Sub that silicon glue may not cut it....its an almost plastic cone its solid as and with the vibration i think silicon would fall apart

i'll take this right from the article, for bigger tears

If you have a large tear or hole, may need to add some patching material (masking tape or cloth tape) to reconstruct the tear, then add some wood glue, over the tape and let dry. A hair dryer will help to set the glue quickly, then air dry for several hours, before installing the sub. If the damage is very severe, then a recone or new surround is recommended, if not dumping the sub, and getting a new one.

if that doesnt work, i would suggest getting a new woofer, sony quality isnt all that great and tends to have some reliability issues, so you may want to go with a different brand in the future.

Just remember, if you are strapped for money, dont always just get the cheapest thing out there. There are some good deals to be found, you just have to be patient. I looked for a month before i found what i wanted. I got 3 JL 10w0s in the JL sealed box for $175. No shipping either because the guy was local. I then found an MTX 6152 amp for around $100, threw in some wiring from knukonceptz.com and that was a pretty good sub/amp combo for about 300 bucks. I have since upgraded to the MTX 6500D amp, but i may be switching to the JBL BP600.1 soon, both nice amps, and not too expensive either.

sorry i kinda went off on a tangent there, but yeah, cloth or masking tape and wood glue should fix it, but if not, get a new woofer.

Omg thats crap were did u get ur subs at. I got my 2 12wo's with the Jl sealed box for idk for sure but way more then that cuz i got a discount cuz they didnt have the subs i wanted. But with my alpine v 300 mono amp it cost like 550
he said the box was 400 alone which i doubt cuz the amp was like $200

hehe, you just gotta be patient, i looked on a bunch of different forums and on ebay until i found a local seller with what i wanted. I made an offer, he accepted. I met him at the mall and i gave him the 175 cash after he showed me that the subs worked. was a great deal for me, and theyre broken in too ;) my 1st amp, i got off of evay and it pushed them pretty well for a 90 dollar amp. But to get prices like that you cant just do buy it now, it actually has to be an auction. thats how u get the good stuff for cheap.

you just gotta do a lot of searching until you find what you want. I got outbid on the other one i wanted. It was for 2 12w0s in a sealed box for 225, my high bid was 224.50, he just barely beat me at the last second. it was a good bidding war.

the only bad thing about mine is that i have no warranty now. JL doesnt authorize online sales of their products.

neither does kicker and i got my amp of ebay. i just made a fake reciept from a the local kicker dealer and faxed that in after i sent the amp in, they were gonna sell me a new kx600.1 for like 389 or sumtin which is way less then in the stores but i only paid like 325 on ebay. they didnt even call teh stereo shop they sent me a brand new one with a warrenty lol. prolly was a bad idea but i damn near cryed lol when i smelled the burnt amp.

There are a lot of bargains out there to choose from off Ebay and other discount web sites. Unfortunately, many are not authorized dealers and it is hard to get a valid warrantee. Best you can do, is fill out the registration form and hope you never abuse the product or have problems that warrant a return.

The best makers will honor a return no matter where you got it. They stand behind their products regardless of where you buy. But some vendors are a bit more picky and demand a proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. A little negotiation is always helpful though... A last ditch effort that may force the hand in your favor...

" I can tell 5 of my buddies your product is great and you fixed it when I had a problem... They will probably buy for that reason alone.

OR... I can tell 20 of them you left me hanging and don't buy that stuff' , they don't stand behind their products! Which way do you want it to go down?

Swez

PS You did not hear that one from me... but it may work if all else fails.
