I am new to the whole car audio thing and I have a couple of questions and I was hoping you guys could help me out. I'll tell you what I have and you can laugh ;o, I have 92' ford tempo (only cost like 700$ so w/e) and I wanted to replace the 2 front and 2 rear speakers because the stock ones are terrible. Now I am willing to spend ~500 dollars, but I was also wondering if it would be worth it for me to put in an amplifier? and I don't want to put in subs just due to the fact they would take up a lot of space in the trunk. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated :D Replies (3) cplkittle on 11/23/2003 19:01:59 My best suggestion is to look on ebay. I have been able to consistently find the cheapest price on new in the box speakers. I, myself am going with audiobahn throughout my car. For 500, you can get 4 speakers what ever combination you want (3 1/2, 5 1/2, 6 1/2, 6x8 etc) and a good 4channel X 4ohm amplifier (a4601t-75watts rms/channel). Audiobahn is a good standard to compare with as far as price of all high quality speakers. You can pretty much go with any brand you want for that budget. and I highly recommend shopping around online. sometimes you can beat ebay, but not usually. circuit city and any stereo shop are going to be double the price. ttocs on 11/23/2003 21:07:40 yup, there is a huge markup on car audio.... If you find the right person you can get some great deals... 92 tempo should be 5.25" in the doors, and 6 x 8 or 6 x 9, in the rear. I probably would not mess with an amp. If you put one in it will almost double the value of the car, and that might effect your insurance :) liq on 11/23/2003 23:35:57 Thanks for all the info, you guys have any reccomendations for brand or model type? I was thinking of going with something from Polk or JBL Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
