Need Help on Wiring

My friend tried to install his sterio which was a mistake lol. He cut the harness coming from the car cuz it was stuck in the factory. And he mixed wires up tryin to get it to work. He blew a couple fuses but its all good now. His sterio fuse is fine. But i bought a harness and plugged the car harness to get an idea which wires connect to which. Oh by the way i pulled the car harness out of the factory with ease. But there were 4 wires tthat were the same color. 2 were yellow and 2 were gray. So im not sure they are connected right. His sterio the first tight would make a buzz noise then stop. Now he says it turns on for 5 sec annd shuts off. He has a 83 Buick Century. I f i could get a diagram on the cars wiring and/or help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

he could have done some damage to the deck, hard to tell until you have the wires correct.

You will need a voltmeter or testlight, and a small (aa) battery to test those wires. The yellow could be the switched ignition, or the right rear pos wire I think it is... First test the wire with the voltmeter and then turn the key on. If there is any pwr on it then you know it is the switched ignition. If there is not then take the batter and touch one side of it to that yellow wire, the other to the blue wire(I think). The speaker that those wires are connected to should make a small popping noise.

The grey wires could be the left front neg, or the dimmer wire. Check it with the test light and turn the lights on. If it is the dimmer wire you will get between 6-12v, if not then repeat the obove procedure for that wire, and a tan wire...
