OK i have 2 10" alpine type R DVC running on a phoenix gold tantrum series 500.2 amp. i want something more powerfull but with good sq. i'm getting a phoenix gold 1500 or 3000 watt mono amp in about 4 or 5 months and want to start looking for a set of subs to go with these. 12's this time... i have looked at audiobahn and lighting audio they have alot of subs with really high RMS wattage but how is the SQ? and do i really need 1000watts rms to get the power i'm looking for? i really want something that shakes my car but i dont want to get more then i have to are there some that are more around 600 watts rms that well give me the same sound? Replies (5) snipe523 on 11/19/2003 04:21:01 My first choice would be the stereo integrity- Magnum D2's. They are rated at 600W rms and are almost the same quality as JL W7's for alot less money. The website for these is www.stereointegrity.com. Other than that I would look into some like an Elemental Designs 12A or possibly there 12O's if you don't want to shell out the dough for the A series. Their website is www.edesignaudio.com. I personally own an A series and can tell you it is in my opinion one of the best subs out there right now for SQL. uochronos on 11/19/2003 12:54:42 Both those look like very good subs snipe i like the elemental design one alot... that looks like the leading choice from what i have been looking at today... also i did find out what am i'm getting it well be the phoenix gold titanium series 1200.1 i decided to go with the 1200 as appossed to the 1500 or 3000 because one i have become slightly attached to my hearing and 2 the 1200 is there top end and the 1500 and 3000 are there lowest end model and i had a chance to hear the differnce and it was noticible the 1200 almost seems to have more power then the 1500. so i'm looking for 2 12" subs to match that amp great. how is audiobahn for sq and over all performance? i have never heard any of there subs the only place in town i know of that sells them, i'm not welcome in. so i'm going to have to go off what you guys say as far as they sound. uochronos on 11/19/2003 19:41:43 i also just ordered some of the cdt carbon fiber HD components and i was wondering has anyone heard there subs? there 12s handle 600 which is the range i'm looking for but how do these compare to the big names? snipe523 on 11/20/2003 00:32:58 I havn't really heard too much about the CDT subs so I can't comment on those. I will say nice choice on the comp's though. I have the Classics and they are awsome for the price. As far a two 12's to match that amp. I would say go with 2 12O's from ED. They are rated at 500W rms but I am sure if you talk to the guys from ED they will tell you they can take 600W fine. One consideration with these though is they are not meant to be ported. So if you are looking to port your sub than you might want to look for something else. 2 12A's would also work well with that power, though you would not be pushing them to their full potential. That would give you the option to port if you went with the A's. There are quiet a few people that are running two 12A's with 500W a piece and are happy with them. uochronos on 11/20/2003 01:02:43 ya i really like the look of those 12A's and at 700watts each that would be pushing them pretty good... although i wouldnt mind having an all cdt system if they are as good as there components are Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
