extra battery

Not that I need one just yet, but I have a small 12v battery high output that came out of one of those portable jump start thingies. I got the jump start thing last Christmas. When I plugged it up it popped an smoked like some of my amps have done in the past lol. One of the inside wires had come lose and was dancing around on the circuitboard, which in turn fried it completely. The battery, I assume, is still good. Would this help or hurt my system if I installed it in the back near my amp? and If I did, should I just wire it up parallel with my car battery near my distribution block? I only have a small problem with the lights dimming now.. nothing serious. My alternator is 70 amp. Would the battery even charge in the back?

I went to my local car audio shop last week and I told them i was thinkin about gettin a battery for the trunk. He showed me this article that JBL put out and it said a 2nd battery doesnt help after your car is turned on but it does help if ur just sitting there with the car of playin your music. They tested this out by having a guy on a bike pedaling and he was powering the alt. and batt. and they added a 2nd batt. and then a cap. and so on.

I would not do that. The stuff on the circuit board may have to do with the charging of it...
