since i have a new job now where i have plenty of income i think i want to get some different subs, i like my compvrs but i know there is better out there, is there any sigle sub setup that will give more spl than my current 2 15s? or maybe 2 different 15s that will put out more bass, right now i have 2 600 watt kicker kx amps, 2ohm stable class d. i need something around that rms range or i can strap the two together and get 1200watts rms but only at 4 ohms, i dont want to spend a million dollars here so can ya throw some suggestions towards me, and i have already ruled out the jl w7 great sub but way over priced, i dont really see a need to spend upto a grand on a single subwoofer, would the adire audio brahma fit here, personally have never heard one but they seem top notch, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, right now my enclosure is around 2.0-3.0 cubic feet, per sub but its for 2 15s, thanx alot Replies (5) Swez on 11/17/2003 17:12:16 Adire Brahma is always a good choice for both SPL & high SQ performance. But these are dual 2 ohm (1/2/4 ohm) subs. You can use 1 sub and power each VC off the Kicker amps. A little careful balancing act is needed to insure that both VC's are getting the same voltage... but it can be done. OR... can strap each amp into a 4 ohm load as well. Probably the better choice, if Kicker amps allow for this. A small cf sealed enclosure is recommended when going with high wattage amps. Looking at a sub enclosure of 1.25 - 2.5 cf sealed for a 15" Brahma. The larger the enclosure, the less watts it will take for the sub to reach X-max and max SPL. The other route I see... can go Bahn 2/4/8 DVC's, one to each amp. These are more SPL than Kicker Comp VR's and 15's are 1000 watts RMS per sub. 1. AWISD15 15" Subwoofer w/ dual 2ohm voice coils - 2000 watts RMS $ 464.99 Immortal series (only need 1 sub) 2. http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/436 Audiobahn AW1500Q $129.00 each, 2/4/8 DVC (A pair of subs here) Bahn notes very high Eff. #'s (94dB eff.) Not sure if that is 2.83 volts or 1.4 volts @ 1m. The efficiency rating they use is not clear to me. Kicker Comps are what ??? 85 - 86 dB eff? Big difference in output with moderate sized amps. How does that hit you? Swez xplicitblitzboi on 11/17/2003 18:26:46 i'd also like to add the Resonant Engineering HC along with Treos mid line of subs(cant think of model at the moment) Swez on 11/17/2003 23:20:42 Yeah, RE and Elemental Designs are very high quality subs that can get loud too. So many choices, so little time, Swez cplkittle on 11/18/2003 11:48:51 solo x compvr15s on 11/18/2003 17:24:22 i e-mailed adire audio yesterday, and asked about 2 12s. if they would give any more bass with the current amps i have now, they replyed that i would gain a bit of spl but a lot in sound quality. he also said if i do choose to upgrade amps later on that they will also handle alot more than iwill be giving them, it sounds like a good deal to me but, i think i want to get a newer car first before more stereo equipment, with the 4grand that i have spent in car auido i have really nothing amazing to show for it, but i i had that towards a car that woulda been a good down payment, so i will save some money get a car that i actually like and want, they go from there, then if my 15s dont fit, then ill look for somthing else, thanx for all the replys though, i will check out the noted brands above and see what they also have to offer, thanks alot :-D Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
