Where can I find Rambus reasonably priced?

I noticed some computer discussion and some good knowledge in Swez's laptop post, so I thought I'd give this a shot.

I have a Dell Dimension 8100 Desktop, and I have two 64Mb sticks of RDRAM. I would really like to get two more 128's or even 256's, but prices are crazy compared to DDR.

So does anyone know where to find a good deal? The best I've found is $41 for one 256 from Pricewatch.com.

Computer is slowly becoming outdated without more RAM! Ahhh!!

Lol, thanks in advance for the help.

Www.pricewatch.com is very reliable but you got to remember Rambus is DUAL CHANNEL ONLY (you must have 2 cards to function as one)

Being a Desktop you should be able to install it your self as long as you are VERY CAREFUL about where not to touch.

I am currently running an Intel 1.5ghz, with 256mb of RAMBUS PC800 and I have hardly any memory problems (on average I use 138mb), 128 is not enough 256 is borderline 512 is good now days. But with Rambus you cannot afford to purchase the higher memory capacities unless you got a lot $$ to fish out. Also you have to remember RAMBUS is dual channel only for
Ex. (PC800 = 400mhz + 400mhz) you’re really not getting a full 800mhz out of each chip it is joined. It may end up making things faster but defiantly at COST.

Before you go out and buy some brand new rambus check out www.ebay.com they have a TON rambus on there that’s how I got my 256mb (128 x 2) Samsung ECC (error correcting) memory for $66 dollars with S/H. Great deal!!

Yeah, you're almost out of luck trying to find RAMBUS at a good price. Pricewatch is going to be your best bet, from what I've seen, you just have to watch it daily, as the price jumps/drops in a heartbeat, depending on what those places get in stock.

Honestly, I'd stay away from memory on Ebay, unless the seller is very reputable, and you get some sort of a guarantee. With the flakiness even of brand new Kingston memory, I hate to 'hope' on something you typically don't have a warantee on.

184 pin PC800 16-bit RDRAM 2 GB max 4 sockets supporting up to 512mb each. and yes you do need to buy them in pairs and best to get them identical.

I wouldnt rely too much on pricewatch.com.... id say a good 25% of the stores are already on better business bureau list and most of them have really bad reps. with a couple exceptions of course. I put in orders about twice a week and in the past have gotten really bad service and even lost money in some of their scammish policies.

ALWAYS!! Check out their seller ratings and such on www.resellerratings.com do this before you get burnt buy the many bad sellers on there

Some of my favorite stores other than wholesale... Dont beleive imitation "wholesale" stores. Selling 10 pieces for $2 cheaper is not wholesale.

www.newegg.com - they have a better rating than even best buy and big names.

www.mwave.com - kind of hard to navigate but good prices

www.acortech.com - really cheap peripherals

www.tigerdirect.com - gotta check for really good deals shipping can sometimes be a tiny bit high

www.upgrade-solution.com - very good for hard drives. just make sure to check the drives as soon as you get them to be sure you fall into their short free warranty.

Looking at the prices right now... Id do some careful searching on ebay... looking at the ~$65 range like munchies said for the 2x128mb config.

RTM

ps... anyone else here overclock? finally bumped my old amd xp 1700 to 2400+ ...teehee
