Just wanted to take a minute to let everyone know that I thought I knew it all. I kept seeing reccomendations on matching the HU output on the amp. I ignored it at first, then saw it again today, I figured what the heck. Dug up my HU owners manual, and set my amp accordingly.. (JVC Kameleon HU, Kenwood 600W amp pushing 2 JVC 12's) I was using the HU output controll on my amp as a 'gain' had it turned up around 1/2 way. I turned it down a bit to match my HU output. The sound quality improved tremendously, and I have better controll with my BBE adjustments. LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE, They know what they are talking about Thanks again guys CLAP Replies (3) Swez on 11/13/2003 20:47:40 Am really laughing good at this one ... not at you... but with you! None of us knows the whole ball of wax and it's when we think we do... we fall flat on our faces. That's the beauty of this forum... shared knowledge, experience and afterall ... what is experience??? Doing it wrong a few hundred times til we get it through our thick skulls we need some help. I'm the worst at asking for help at times... do like to figure things out on my own as many men do... But there is a time to admit our lack of knowledge and ask for help. Gets harder to brak that bad habit as we get older too. Sometimes, I thought (THINK) I was/am on the right track, until I look at how much time I wasted or the poor results. Got help, back on track and good to go. Thank God for guys like our folks on this forum. Ain't they great? YEAH BABY... (Austin Powers) Swez PS So, does that mean you won't be forking out big bucks for a new amp soon? hehe Good JOB CPL! You may get a few extra stripes on your sleeves in time... Sgt. Kittle cplkittle on 11/14/2003 11:18:35 At lease I didn't 'have' to buy a new amp, I have smoke tested a few. I am looking at something bigger, but not right now. and yes, kudos to everyone here. As for the stripes.. did 8 years in the beloved corps as a reservist. finally got my chance and volunteered to go to Iraq earlier this year. That was more than enough. I spent 46 miserable days in country, then another 15 in Kuwait. Didn't like it too much, so I cut my losses. Plus I have a wife and want a kid soon, and with the world going downhill, I decided that it was best to just let my contract end on an honorable note. wouldn't take anything for the experience, but wouldn't do it again. Swez on 11/16/2003 10:13:31 Have heard that kind of thing from many military guys too. They had many experiences they can share for a lifetime that were positive... but some parts of the tour, they'd just soon forget. My Dad is 73 now and talks a lot about his brash & rowdy days as an MP/AP... but he never talks about the rough stuff circa Korean War era. Leaves a lot of mental and emotional scars when some go through combat. I was lucky... I was draft bait for the latter part of the Vietnam War. Fortunately, Nixon pulled the plug before my number came up and ended the draft. If called, I would have gone... but from things I hear from other Vietnam Vets today.... it was a nasty tour of duty and many came back with mental nightmares that haunt them 30 years later. In short... WAR IS HELL !!! Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
