alright, ive used the expensive 3M spray adhesive before to attach carpet, is there anything easier/cheaper that will work just as well, and still make it look good?

Nothing easier that I have tried. Cheaper... yeah, use contact cement in a can and brush it on. Takes forever to brush this stuff on the carpet. Goes on like snot... so the added cost of spray on adhesive is easily offset by lots of extra labor. Time is money too!

If you do it well, a 3cf box should only need 1 large spray can. A light coat on the box, a medium coat on cloth works well. I like Super 77 best and most home centers sell this for ~$8.00 USD.

alright, thanks for the info, thats the same stuff i used last time, but this time i actually opted for double sided tape. Sounds dumb, but you have no idea. My neighbor works at an adhesive company so he gets a ton of tape free, so i took some... This stuff is wicked thin [looks like spray adhesive after backing is removed] and very strong. Basically its spray adhesive in strips. So much easier to work with, as you dont need to put any on the carpet, and the fact that you can rip off only 1 or 2 strips at a time and work your way around. You also dont get it all over the inside of the box, or your clothes, or your work bench, or.. what have you. You just cover the ENTIRE box in the tape, and it makes it much easier than using the spray. The tape i have is 2" wide and seriously like 1/32 - 1/64" thick. its almost not even tape after the backing is removed. I'll ask him what its called next time i see him, and let you all know.
