hey guys i just got an alpine cda 9807, and i hooked it up a couple of days ago and it worked great, and worked fine today until i tried to eject a cd it said "no disc" and wouldnt eject. so i just shut the truck off took the face off and pulled it out with some tweezers. when i turned it on i pushed the eject button and tried putting another cd in, and it will only go in half wayMADMADMAD it would say eject load then error when i try putting the disc in. it wont even try to suck it in or anything. i didnt try forcing it in, i just pushed it in until it stopped(halfway in). any help would be appreciated, but for now i think ill go cuss at it some more... murph Replies (7) Swez on 11/9/2003 20:53:41 Gee Murph, that's a bummer! Seems like a defective CD transport and read system. Hope you have a warrantee... this is not something you should attemp to fix if under warrantee. Good luck, Swez heart_beat on 11/9/2003 23:28:00 you know that would be nice if i did have a warranty.. you have no idea how pissed off i am about this. see i bought it off ebay and i already left the bastard good feedback. no warranty. i could return it.. but the 3 days i had are gone, and even if i did that would be 25% restocking fee (around $50-60) well how hard would it be to fix/ how much would it cost to have fixed? thanks for the help, murph MADMADMADMADMADMADMADMADMADMADMADMAD Swez on 11/9/2003 23:58:05 Contact the ebay seller. If he is worth his salt, he'll try to work something out for you. You may have to press the seller a bit... but you paid good $$ for your gear and I am sure he will honor your pleas if you tell him the situation. It's worth a few e-mails! Swez PS He may not be the Bastard you characterize him as.... just state your case and see what happens. He cannot help you if you don't tell him your issues. cplkittle on 11/10/2003 02:01:21 Most head units have a reset button or combination of buttons, try resetting the head unit. I doubt this will help, but other than Swez's suggestion, it is the only thing I can think of. ttocs on 11/10/2003 10:47:02 disconnect pwr to it and it will reset the loading mechanism. It should pop right out when pwr is reconnected to it. You can even pull the fuse. Sometimes they get "confused" as to if there is or is not a cd in. If it does not kick it out when the pwr is turned on you have a defective unit. heart_beat on 11/11/2003 12:27:43 well i tried reseting it, disconnecting power, ect. with no luck. looks like im gonna be begging for a new one now... murph Swez on 11/11/2003 20:16:09 Murph, Contact the seller... if he is honest and can help you with warrantee repairs or a swap for a known good unit. If he complies... you are ahead and will get something in return. If he stonewalls you... on your own for the repair bill or go back to the Mfg and see what they can do for you.
