I have an Audiobahn a6601q ( http://mainstreet-caraudio.com/car/audiobahn/a6601q.htm ). Last night I was listening to music and out of nowhere music stopped. Then I got this "pock" sound on my speakers every like 5 seconds, i could see them bouncing out alot every time the noise was made. Checked everything, so its defenetly in the amplifier where the problem is. (HU is working perfectly, I installed another amplifier i had, and used every rca, and speaker cable on it and eveything was fine.) The weird thing is that the amp, turns on, everything looks normal, i just dont get music out of it, just this "pock" sound constantly. Any suggestions??

That "pock" sound... seems like the power supply is charging the internal amp capacitors and then discharges that energy. You get a good amount of voltage to the cones... but something in the audio chain is not getting audio signals from the HU, through the preamps and into the main output transistors.

PS Sounds like your amp took a dive and needs a repair tech to look at it. May be power supply, preamp related or output transistors are fried.

Oh you guys... you're the best gang of web buddies a guy could ask for! CLAP

But after one has kicked around on this planet for as many years as Old Man Swez... you will pick up a lot of information too.

Supercomputer linked to brain? LOL That's a good one !!! No, just an ordinary guy with a passion to help others who ask for it. Not always 100% correct either... but as Rush Limbaugh often says...

"Talent on loan from God," is about the extent of things. Why do you think we call ourselves (Golds) "Audio Evangelists" ? We try to bring good news, to those who come here for help.

But the real brains behind all this mahem, is our Site Host... Walter Hargrave! Give him a shout and tell him how pleased you are about having access to this Forum of Knowledge. He's the guy behind the scenes, that makes this all work so smoothly. CLAP FLAG HAPPY

PS Support the site guys. Think of it as a Christmas present to yourselves and future visitors. A little pocket change by many, all adds up to a well funded site. Thanks!

Try 'tweaking the knobs' on your amp... I had a cheap eq that would cause this problem, not saying your equiptment is cheap, but occasionally the adjustable gain, sensitivity, fade, or balance controlls get either dirty or worn if they are kept in one spot for a long period of time. working them back and forth may help, or a can of compressed air could help some also.
