Hi pass, Low pass, Full

I have these options on my amplifier. I never really found out what they did.

I know Hi pass makes it sound more so like trebble, more so high pitched

Low pass cleans out all the trebble

and Full lets it drive hard with no trebble/bass modifications

what are these options used for? I kind of like it on Low Pass it seems to clean up the bass a lot but I never run it on that from fear of damaging the subwoofer.

This is a filter for filtering out different frequencies. Hi pass allows only high frequencies, low pass only low frequencies, and Full is all frequencies. You want it to be set on Low Pass, to make sure your subs are only getting low frequencies, what they were intended to play. Set your crossover around 80-100hz, depending on how much your other speakers can pick up. Please use the Low Pass so i can sleep at night.

That's good.... I like that... Male bonding stuff.. hehe

The LPF will not damage your subs if set as noted by Buickman. The area you may get into trouble with, is the bass boost feature. Use this feature sparingly as it does not take too much boost to drive an amp into high "clipping" outputs which can be very bad for your subs.

Most guys can get by well w/o any boost, but if your system needs a little help... +3/+6 dB of boost is all you should need. You can control bass from the HU as well. If you want to read more on this subject, go to our articles and FAQ's on Tweaking bass systems.
