Hello, I recently purchased a 1990 nissan sentra that came with a yamaha shaft type am/fm cassette radio, when I turn the radio on if the display lights are bright all is ok, if the lights are dim, i get no sound, if I turn on the headlights the radio display gets bright and will work. I checked the connections (constant 12v and switched 12v) and redid them the proper way they are connected to the factory harness wires, nothing is connected to the factory wire that is controlled by the headlight switch so I have no idea why turning on the headlights makes the radio work. Also when the display is dim if I put pressure on the 2 shafts of the radio it will work. And when the radio gets dim the lights in the A/C control will also light up. Any one have any ideas on this??? does this sound like it could be an internal radio problem or possibly I need a better ground?? Thanks Replies (3) compvr15s on 11/5/2003 08:51:54 it sounds like somthing with the wiring, if it was the ground it shouldnt affect the A/C lights, you checked the wiring and changed it right, was the ACC wire hooked upto the head lights or dash lights maybe. sry not much help, good luck ttocs on 11/5/2003 10:13:11 it sounds like somebody hacked a deck in at the last minute just to fill space to sell it. Where is the deck grounded? If it is not already grounded to the chassis, ground it there. Old nissans did some funny stuff in the wiring. Is there a pwr ant? hardbody on 11/5/2003 16:56:44 the acc and constant power wires are hooked up correctly, the ground is going to a wire cut from the factory harness, I'm going to try to move the ground because I just assumed the ground from the deck was to the ground on the harness side but I'm not positive.
