WIRING PROBLEMS

Hi I'm installing a Sanyo ECD-T1443 mp3 player into a 93 Towncar.

I got the wiring harness kit for replacing the factory unity.

When I got everything wired. (The only change I made was hooking the rear speakers to the front wires, as I have an amp for the back. So I have front and rear left to front left only and front and rear right to front right only). Red power went to red and yellow remote went to yellow. The unit did not work and the power trunk and panel lights did not work.

When I hooked up red power and yellow wires, then every thing works fine when the car is on but not when it is off. Also the radio does not keep the memory, and neither does the car clock, etc.

How to rewire things correctly?

Thanks.

Paul

I am not familiar with sanyo's color codes. Normally red is +12v switched(ignition), and yellow is +12v constant.

I think I understand now re-reading. Check fuses. It sounds like you blew one somewhere and that is what is keeping your lights, pwr trunk, as well as your radio from working. By hooking both yellow and red from the deck to the red wire in the dash you will get the problems you described. I am willing to bet your dome light and door buzzer do not work either...

Check all fuses, under the dash, and under the hood. When I say all, I do not mean all the ones you think apply, I mean ALL fuses. Often you wll find a fuse blown that should not have anything to do with what you did, but caused the problem. After replacing blown fuses, reconnect the yellow and red to the proper yellow and red. Everything should pwr up.
