I have an 89 SHO and i plan on puttin eother one 15 or two 12's in it. My Q is that i want to face the sub towards the drivers seat so when i fold down the back seat the sub would be fluch w/ everything. Would this or facing the sub towards the trunk be better for bass? Im going for moslty SPL but want some SQ. i listen to mostly rap w/ some rock and techno. Thanks Replies (4) Relax_The_Mind on 10/26/2003 13:21:16 Either facing them rear or towards the front would have to be trial and error. Some people get better SQ/SPL facing the front and most people get better response rear firing. You can have the best of both worlds if you rear fire the subs and have a plexi-glass window on the back to look pretty or vice-versa. What kind of subs, box, amp do you have anyways? Give us a feel of how much power you are trying to throw. RTM Sky605 on 10/26/2003 19:50:45 If i went w/ a 15 it would probly be an audiobahn high excursion w/ a 800 RMS amp runnin...dont kno which amp yet. The box would be custom made by myself. I wuz hopin to do this for two reasons, (1) i want to build a wall in my trunk to hide the amps and box for security reasons and (2) i wanted to find a shop to custom make me a back seat so i can fold the top of the back seat down w/ the push of a button and display the sub w/ neons and such. If i would get better results just puttin two 12's in a custom box i would go w/ that cuz y have somthin that looks neat when it can sound better lol. Swez on 10/27/2003 09:22:57 In most truck applications I have listen too, facing the subs toward the rear bumper nets best overall bass. As RTM noted, a little experimentation is not a bad idea... but you'd have to remove the rear seat and cut out the metal former to find out how the subs sound in a forward facing design. Not sure I would want to make that mod w/o consulting a custom body shop first. Have to add bracing and such to replace some of the support members that former provides. Rear end crash worthyness may be compromised considerably if not supported properly. Swez PS What is the HP output of that SHO engine anyway? Sky605 on 10/27/2003 13:40:58 when u take the back seat down it is open to the trunk except for one brace that runs down the middle about 3 r 4 inches wide so i dont think it would be a problem...(looks flimsy anyways)....so so u think im just better off building a trunk setup? Thanks for the feed back RTM and swez.....o by the way the SHO motor puts out 220 stock im runnin around 250....she's my rice killer ;) Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
