I replaced a lost dash unit with the newer version of the same. Now I can't get the new unit to recognize the cd changer. All the items are pioneer, and I installed it exactly as the first unit. I've checked power supply, connections, looked for reset buttons, etc... The new dash unit is a Premier mosfet 50wx4, the old one was a mosfet 45w. the changer is a 3-4 yr old 6cd pioneer . Year and model of car. 1985 dodge minivan. (217,600 miles and still cruising!) Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks, Jeff, the low-budget auto tunes guy Replies (3) Swez on 10/26/2003 09:10:07 Not sure I have "the" answer, but an option to look at... You may have to review the Pioneer HU install manual about the interface connections between new HU and older changer. There may be a menu selection somewhere in the display options that will "enable" the cd changer so that new HU recognizes it. Hopefully, all pin outs from the cd player harness, match the input connector. They may physically fit, but my guess is that there is a menu function (CD/AUX) input feature in the HU that needs to be enabled. Swez jeffrey_w on 10/26/2003 12:47:34 Thanks Suez, I'll take a look. I will let you know if I have success. I'll also try to track down the manual for the cd changer as I have lost it. ttocs on 10/26/2003 16:36:11 are there cd's in the chnger? we have alot of customers come back complaining the chngr does not work, when it just needs cd's... Also try the reset button on the deck or chnger. Old pioneer if I remember correctly had a seperate pwr wire along with the din plug. Is it possible that it did not get hooked back up with the removal? There is also normally a fuse on the pwr wire going to the chngr, check it... Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
