Hey! Just signed up the site is pretty cool, I found it on www.google.com searching for information about subwoofers. I like the layout. Okay, I will admit I cried over this.. I know a little baby I am but when your dealing with Eclipse SW9122 12' inch subs, its worth crying over when something goes wrong! Specs are: Polyether Surround Titanium Cone Dual Mirror-Image Spiders Aluminum Voice Coil Former "Bottomless" Design Aero-Vented Pole Piece Cast Aluminum Frame Triple-Stacked Magnet Small Sealed-Box Enclosure Continuous Power Handling: 750W Music Power Handling: 1,500W Dual Voice Coil QCA (Quick Change Assembly) SW9122 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fs: 27Hz -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Qts: 0.30 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DCR: 4/coil -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vas: 3.20 cuft -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Xmax: (one way) 1.50 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- www.eclipse-web.com We had two Eclipse's in a Band pass box, I hooked it up in my friends in 1972 Chevy hot rod and he decided that going around a corner really fast would be "fun". Apparently when he went around the corner the band pass box SMASHED into the side of the trunk and BROKE one of the bolts holding the magnet together. I have thought about taking the liberty of fixing it. Taking it apart and cutting around the "rigged paper" (there is a name but I'm not aware of) replacing the bolt that goes through the middle and resealing that "rigid paper back up" but I'm afraid it will never be the same and right now it sounds horrible. SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS down the drain. Do you think I should just go ahead and try to repair it. Replies (3) Relax_The_Mind on 10/22/2003 23:52:57 That rigid paper would be the spider... They do sell those seperately but i do no know how much they are. Sounds like one of the bolts that mounts the replacement cone to the magnet assembly. I do not know why they dont sell just replacement cone itself, according to the site is that you have to replace the whole frame itself. Im not going to give much advice. i know other helpers will help you a lot more on this as i never encountered this problem with those subs... nice subs by the way. RTM ttocs on 10/23/2003 09:42:47 send them in..... Time to pay the piper........ Swez on 10/23/2003 10:15:14 Sounds like a trip back to the factory for a recone/repair. My guess, the voice coil/gap has been damaged and a factory repair is your only real alternative. This is not cheap, but it may restore the sub to factory specs. This will be cheaper than a new sub too... maybe $150.00.... but much cheaper than a new sub. Did you learn anything on this misadventure? This is a cheap lesson compared to other things in life that come our way! Good luck, Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
