hi there everyone i got an 5ch amp(alpine mrv-357) i'm using it for the time beeing to push a pair( 6.5's) and pair of tweeters and also )1 jbl) bass tube with 250 rms so i'm planning to up grade the bass part i'm heading for 800 rms so lets say e.g: i used the (jbl bp1200.1 amp) and as i know this amp is 1-2 ohme stable with no heat or problems. so my question comes is it better to go for the gti15 inch sub 5000watt (800 rms) or to get the twin earthquake DBX subs 400rms for each sub because i'm planning to do a durable thing for my hatch back car (peugeot 307) 2.0 L i wana know if twin or single is better : 1. for what can the amp handle(seriuos/parrelle) 2.spl & sq 3.and ohm usage for the amp 4. currnet draw for both of them many thanx Replies (3) Junier on 10/23/2003 00:40:42 It all really depends on the voice coil configuration of each sub... 1ohm = 1200.1 2ohm = 1200.1 4ohm = 600.1 It doesnt make a difference if you have one sub or two... What matters is what ohm load you end up with when you wire the subs to the amp. An extra sub doubles the cone area... +3db The JBL amp will draw about 60-80 @ 1or 2 ohms.... only_tuning on 10/23/2003 04:47:29 hi there thanx but i need more details about the prodects( for the people who had expearince with them ) ...... thanx Swez on 10/23/2003 10:35:29 If you go with one JBL GTi 15, it is a DVC... 3/6/12 ohm configuration. The lowest you can wire a single GTi will be 3 ohms and that amp will net ~800 watts RMS. Very little dB loss between 800 vs 1200 watts in a sealed box. If ported, (recommended) you pick up +3 dB and have a very efficient system here. That's the same SPL you can expect with 1600 watts of ampng power If you went with a pair of the Earthquakes, the amp has the potential to damage the sub when pushed hard for long periods of time as you will be giving the subs >600 RMS each ! DBX is an SPL sub. Of you want all 1200 watts from this amp and high SPL + great SQ, look into the Adire Brahma sub: http://www.adireaudio.com/mobile_audio/drivers/brahma_series.htm Not a cheap sub to be sure. But as for performance in SQL applications and high power... this is a beauy and a beast! Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
