I just bought my first set of speakers and amp today on a recommendation from a friend. I just had some questions about the quality of the products and how to set them up since i'm completely new to the car audio scene. Right now i'm driving a 95 Honda Accord with a JVC Kameleon deck. The specs on the stuff I bought today are: Kaption HDX-602- 2way speakers with 120RMS and 170W music power Kaption HDX-692- 2way speakers with 200RMS and 300W music power Kaption HO 50.4- 4 channel amplifier with 300 Watts total RMS Rockford Fosgate DP-1732-C amp installation kit I'm planning to add a sub in at a later date, and was also wondering if I would have to buy another amp to power the sub, or if i could just run them off the same amp and run say the 6x9's on the head unit. Any suggestions, comments or criticsms would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Replies (1) Swez on 10/21/2003 17:59:10 Most HU's have ~20-22 watts (RMS) of power per channel and that is enough to power an efficient speaker over 100 dB of SPL. A good set of 6x9's can deliver decent bass down to about 60 Hz. Below that, the sub takes over. The amp you mentioned will give your full range speakers will get you ~108 dB or a tad more. Depending on how much SPL you desire in the whole system... a modest sub and sub amp would do a lot to improve low end performance, 35-80 Hz. Here, 250-300 watts and a single 10 or 12" sub is plenty of bass and easy on your electricals too. Any more thoughts? Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
