I'm sure you know my amp by now (1000w rms x 1 @ 2 ohms, 2000 w rms x 1 @ 1 ohm). I've got a question for ya - what if I wired 3 JBL GTi 15s like this : http://www.jbl.com/car/products/gti/images/Wiring_diagrams/IllusE.jpg That would mean I would deliver 2000 w to 3 subs, which would equal ~667 w to each sub, they're rated for 800 w. Is this a rediculous idea for me, or would I be better off just wiring 2 subs for a 1.5 ohm load and giving each sub, what ~700 w rms? like in this pic: http://www.jbl.com/car/products/gti/images/Wiring_diagrams/IllusC.jpg Replies (1) Swez on 10/14/2003 17:40:59 BJM, There is very little difference in SPL between 1500 and 2000 watts (2 VS 3 subs) RMS. We're talking <1.5 dB of added gain by this power range. Not really enough to really hear any difference. Unless you are a real SPL Comps guys... not adding up that much Plus, is you add the extra cost of the 3rd woofer, that's a small return in dB gain for the added expense. Seems to me, 2 subs will give you the best ROI. (return on investment) Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
