Hi all,
I've had my head for a few year and its stopped playing cds, i slip one in and it just spits it out and turns off after about 10 secs. Before this started it was getting realy bad static just from cd's. The radio works fine. any help would be appreciated. TA

You may have a dirty laser read sensor and getting bad reading as you incert your CD's into the player.
There are CD cleaning kits available and tis may or may not help. I see 3 alternatives:
1. remove the HU and clean the CD reader manually with rubbing alcohol... see if that helps
2. Replace the HU
3. If that HU has CD changer adaptor and you can add a remote CD changer, that may be a good option if all else is working properly.
If you happen to be a smoker or live in a very dusty area, cleaning may help. A trip to the repair shop may cost you $50.00 or more for parts and labor. If you think that is the best route, can go that way too.

You can probably get it repaired for cheaper, but that takes the fun out of picking a new one...
