I am a rookie to this scene, my amp has the red protection light on and the power light is off, but every 4 or 5 seconds the power light then goes on and the subs hit for a split second, what is happening and how can i fix it. Replies (3) Pinch on 10/9/2003 11:58:15 First off, see if there are any bits of wire or other conducting media which may be shorting between the + and GND terminals on your amp. If not, disconnect your subs from the amp. This is to see if there is a short somewhere in the sub portion of the circuit. If the amp comes out of "protect" mode when you disconnect the speakers, reconnect them one at a time to isolate the problem area. ryan on 10/9/2003 21:51:31 What kind of amp do u have, Make and Model? Also how do u have ur subs wired (parallel or series) and what are the ohm rating for them? Make sure u have a good ground. Swez on 10/10/2003 08:19:33 Sounds like an amp to sub wiring issue here. Could be a shorted voice coil, improper load (ohms) for that amp or amp problems. Say more about your amp (make & model), your sub(s) make & model and how you have the subs wire to the amp. Swez PS Do you have access to a Volt/Ohm meter? Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
