hi, Im Sean, new to the forum. I have an issue. I have a 2003 Nissan Xterra. I replaced the stock stereo with a Kenwood KDC-MPV7019 HU. I used wiring harnesses from Crutchfield. I also added an 8" powered sub, Kenwood KSC-WA82 RC using the "non-fading" RCS outputs form the HU. In addition, I will be replacing the stock front and A-pillar speakers with Infinity Reference Series Components, 605cs. (most likely w/o using an amp) Well, here is the issue. I have the HU and the SUB connected and at low volumes, everything is great. The max volume for the HU is 32, so problems arise when I get to 23+. There is noticeable power dissipation. Example, at volume 24, when bass is supposed to hit, everything fades, then coems back till next "power drain". What "could" cause this? bad ground? incorrect power/remote wire connection? stock speakers not meeting power req's for hu? Any insight into a possible fix will be greatly appreciated. Not wired well enough... ground is always a possible issue if using Factory harness ground and not a chassis ground and use the ACC/IGN for your power line. 2. This HU may have a self protection circuit that senses overloads and automatically drop back on the output to protect speakers and HU from excess power draw and distortions Try backing off on the bass tone control to flat or maybe +3dB and adjust the sub amp gain to make up the difference. This may give you more mid/highs power to interior speakers and less muting as you kick up the volume control on the HU. Review your owners manual to see if this HU has a limiter feature. Swez ttocs on 10/9/2003 01:10:21 it sounds like the amp is not getting the current it needs at high volumes. What is the wiring like? What size, where is it connected, ect....
