I am pretty certain its not the amp ground and I installed as did you with the pwr and signal cables going down opposite sides of the vehicle. I believe I may have turned the gains up to far on the amp and that is whats causing my power supply hum. Hope this fixes it as I just bough some new speakers and am getting ready to chase down the problem and get some good sound going! Swez on 10/1/2003 09:09:13 Yes, improper gain setting are a big contributor to noise as is improper ground of the amp(s) and HU. If a stock HU, most use a harness based ground. But when upgrading to Aftermarket HU's, need to be body pan grounded to bare metal here. The harness ground may not be enough to prevent ground loops and engine whine. You have the right plan for wiring... power supply wires on one side of vehicle and RCA's on the other. If the power and RCA wires must cross each other, they are best to cross at 90 degree angles to prevent noise intrusion from the power feed wires. The REM line is very low power and can be mounted on either side of the vehicle with acceptable results. Start by changing the sensitivity settings on your interior speaker amp first. Midpoint is a good place to start and dial up/down to eliminate noise, but get most clean signal into the speakers. Swez PS When grounding amps'HU's, best practice is to remove the paint etc., to bare metal. Then install your grounding stud (bolt or screw) in the center of that bare metal spot. Once the noise is gone, a dab of silicone sealant over the bare metal and ground wires will prevent rust later. ttocs on 10/1/2003 12:07:13 hey man an audible tach is a expensive option that blind people will pay big money for on their cars. Same reason we have the brail keys at the drive through atm right? What is the hu? Stock or aftermarket? Pinch on 10/1/2003 13:38:50 hehe braille on the atm, parking on driveways, driving on parkways...I love this country!!! Swez on 10/1/2003 20:11:19 ttocs is on a roll today.... don't you have your mind reader's globe on yet? I got mine from Better Probes.com. What a deal too... only $250.00 Same one "Psychic Friends" used before they went belly up. Guess their psychic abilities do not cover finanacial management filters??? This item even has a feature that helps figure out what girls mean when they say things that confound the average guy. Get one soon, before they are all gone! Swez GRIN ttocs on 10/2/2003 09:25:29 a girl? Swez on 10/2/2003 10:24:24 Yes... girl, woman, female... whatever you like to call them... they are still a major source of confusion to all men right? Swez ttocs on 10/3/2003 00:55:15 I meant, get a girl before they are all gone? they only confuse you if you listen to them.. As I get older they start to sound more and more like charlie browns teacher... I think my brain is starting to produce a chemical that blocks out their voice.... I have not yet decided if that is a good thing or not, I will let you know when I know, but I am usually the last to know, so you tell me when you find out...... Relax_The_Mind on 10/3/2003 02:16:29 i find it quite funny how the topic of girls came up on the thread about whining... that goes up and down...and in joe's case,...is having a hard time getting rid of the 'unwanted' whine... rtm Swez on 10/3/2003 13:29:04 Boy have we digressed off this guys issues huh? ttocs: Get them before they are all gone??? Nonsense! Female population is greater than 55% of the total population, and more when you factor in age groups above 50 years old. We are not short of females... but long on whiners from my experience. Good you have that filter installed in your brain.. but it will come back to bite you later when she says..." I told you about this situation a month ago and you are still not getting it" !!! Women... especially older ones, have a menory for details that cannot be believed. They can remember every missed birthday, anniversary, first date details and anything you ever said or did wrong in her mind. Instead of getting "hysterical", they become "historical" .... and remind us of all our short comings on command. Hit the right buttons and watch that ol computer spring to life.... Has anyone else ever had that experience in a longer relationship? I sure have and hate it! The past cannot be changed and should be left in the past... My thesis for today and good night nurse!
