I mentioned a while back that im moving my car stereo to my dorm room since my taurus is dead now. I picked up a pyramid dc converter, 35 amp, for 130. The next step however is building enclosures for my door speakers. Since obvously I don't want them just hanging there in my room. Any suggestions for going about doing this? Any particular material i should make them out of...otherwise i was just going to build a wood box with to fit everything into. I've got JL 650-Csi Speakers...Seperate Speaker, Tweeter, and Crossovers. Instead of just building enclosures for the speakers, he built a box for the entire system. He just used 3/4" plywood for the box, and some automotive carpet for a cover. The only thing he had to connect was the cigarette lighter and it was good to go. In your case, you could just build the converter into the box and plug it into the wall when you wanted to listen to it. Depending on how big your amp is, the whole thing may not be much bigger than an average sized bookshelf stereo. Also, that PVC idea Tray had would make a nice cavity for the speakers to rest in inside the box. ttocs on 10/1/2003 16:03:39 I have seen buckets with holes cut in the covers as well. Not sure what size that would be sealed or ported, but am sure something in the 0.3cf range would be ablout right for a 6.5" woofer (sealed). You might want to write to JL and ask them the recommended airspace for these woofers and constuct your boxes around that. Also, if the tweeter is sealed from the rear completely, just mount the tweeter above the woofer a few inches and use the crossover, mounted in the bottom or other part of the box interior.
