i have a 1993 Dodge Intrepid that came with a Infinity amp HM5182. last summer i placed my own amp as well as subs. the factory installed amp blew and now i get absolutely no sound. is there any way that i can reroute the power going to the blown amp and use my own? Replies (1) swez on 08/20/2009 10:49:10 Welcome to CK DA! Most guys just bypass the factory amps and tap audio signals from the HU, (Radio) to power outboard amps for full range speakers and sub(s). If you have a factory HU, you can use a 4 channel Line Out Converter to change HU output voltages to signal line levels. (2-4 volts range) This gives you 4 full range RCA lines to the aftermarket amp and then simply tap your speaker outs at the factory amp harness and go from there. Many of the newer 4 channel amps also have preamp outputs to feed a sub amp audio signals too. This is easy and less expensive on RCA cable needs. Questions/Comments?
