Ok i haven been talkin to you a few of you guys for awhile, and have gotten a little overwhelmed with all the wonderful information you guys have sent my way... so here is a simple question...i plan on getting two JBL P1022's and pairing them with an Alpine MRP M-1000, my question is will my stock car battery in my '03 F150 be able to power this? Replies (1) swez on 08/10/2009 17:06:51 You're at the fuzzy edges here on this vehicle. If the truck has a trailer towing package, it may be equipped with a 140-160A ALT for stock. Most vehicles need about 40-60A's to run the main electricals. So, you have some wiggle room, depending on how hard you push the Alpine 1000 and subs. The battery is probably a 650 CCA, (Cold Cranking Amps) version and if it's the original one, you're due for a replacement sooner than later. Most get 4-6 years off the original factory BAT and it declines with age and cold weather too. The 1st step would be to do the Big 3 wiring upgrade. The details are covered here: http://www.clubknowledge.com/cgi-bin/car_audio_faq/faq.cgi?g6499 Here, #4 gage can be used or even #2 gage would be better. Just leave the factory wires in place and add the others to what is there now. See how the Alpine amp handles that as a 1st step. If you have massive light dimming after this stage, we'll go to the next level... a second battery near the sub amp and fed with #2 gage wires as well. Comments/Questions?
