That site is soooooo crowded couldn't keep my ad on the 1st page for more than about 30 minutes the past 3 days. When my ad gets past the 1st page, only spammers from Nigeria reply. Any other great ideas? Minneapolis Area I'm selling a computer desk, a dresser & a 27" last generation TV This used to be easier when craigslist didn't have a monopoly. Replies (4) swez on 08/1/2009 15:58:27 Consider a consignment store or "gently used" store. Swez ttocs on 08/1/2009 22:47:13 thats funny, I just sold a patio set and I have a futon on CL and had good luck with them. I have never had a nigerian scam sent to me yet through there. Most are just tire-kickers that just seem to waste your time but if you look closely there is normally a person that wants to come get it before everyone else will. The patio set went easily as I had a 5 piece set for only $50. The lady actually asked if I would take less but I told her that if she was not interested I would tell the next person on the list. She picked it up with cash in hand 45 mins later. Now I always use a junk hotmail address for this crap to save me from future hassles. MrBrownstone on 08/2/2009 10:17:42 Thanks for the advice folks. I used a couple of throw-away emails and posted 5 times in a 4 hr period just to keep it up top. most of what I'm moving is gone Evidently at the end of the month (30 & 31st) everybody is flooding the market with stuff. Sat the 1st there was less traffic after 2 pm & ads started sticking. I can see why you sold your stuff quickly, because it was basically free. $50 is a tank of gas--probably cost more to drive to pick it up than to actually buy it PROUD I think Craigslist is either for scammers or very very cheap stuff. I have a few more items to move & then after that, i'm off like a prom dress. swez on 08/2/2009 11:43:18 Makes sense that most folks are at moving day frenzy at the end of a month. My brother and sister-in-law had to clear out a family members' entire estate in 60 days. They used Craig's with fair-good results, but many discount deals were made as most treat this as a garage sale around here. (10-20 cents on the dollar?) The only good thing about it, the house was emptied before the dealine and we did make a little change for labor and deliveries. The rest was sold as scrap metal to the "sheeny man" who carted away the bulky stuff. So, where are you going next? ND & SD have some of the lowest unemployment rates in the upper Midwest and farming belts. It looks like they may have a great crop this years too.
