Hey guys - me again. I was wondering if I could get some help with this one: 2004 Nissan Maxima - powered stock system(Bose). My boy wanted to put a touch screen flip in his dash, which i had issues with - it is a power acoustik HU, I haven't heard much good about them. The care has a amplifer in the trunk, the inside consists of 6.5" seperates up front and rear doors. 8" subs in the rear deck. I looked at it for about 3 hours, and with what he wanted, he then went to Audio Express. They charged him 170.00 to put the deck in. I told him all he needed was the extra harness but he wouldn't listen. I guess because I don't work at a actual shop, I know nada. Once they installed the deck and everything else needed, he was not happy with the sound. I tried to explain it to him but......! He's trying to stretch a dollar out of a dime, trust me. he bought his sub and amp used. The sub will work for abuot 20 minutes then cut out, then turn back on again at a later time. I tested the amp, everything seems fine. what could be the issue here? Replies (3) ttocs on 07/16/2009 09:29:47 a maxima with a bose system is by n means a basic install and requires a little more wiring then just plugging in a harness. $150-170 for parts and labor would not be too far off from the point.... swez on 07/16/2009 10:01:38 The sub cutting out could be a couple of issues: 1. The gain setting is too high and heats the amp up until the thermal protect circuit kicks off and comes back on later. 2. The sub wiring may not be the right load for the amp he is using now. If the sub load is too low in impedence, the amp will also heat up and shut down until cool. Swez PS As a Dad too, I'd rather allow my kids to experiment and make small dollar mistakes now and learn from them while there's still a safety net under them. Once they leave home, they will be at the mercy of the real world and hopefully wise enough to accept wise advice later from Mum/Dad and other authority figures too. My Dad got a whole lot smarter when I hit my late 20's. (Imagine that?)But he did allow me to make some key mistakes early, so that I would learn and ask more questions later on about the bigger things in life. (Job, marriage, buying a home, raising my own kiddos and so much more) SMILE FuBaR on 07/17/2009 00:08:18 TTOCS/SWEZ, thanks for the assistance. The JL 500 never got hot, or went into shut down or anything. The first subwoofer burnt up or atleast seemed to. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
