bench testing equipment

I just purchased all my new audio stuff recently but won't have time to install them in my car any time soon. I just want to test them and I have an extra battery and charger that I can used for the setup.

Just want to know if I can just hook them all up just like I would in the car but only difference is there won't be an ignition switch to turn on the stereo and also where do I ground everything...to the negative post of the battery?

Yes, that should work out fine for test purposes. In this case, you'll just need to hardwire the HU's Yellow and Red wires to the Pos post of the BAT and then the ground(s) to the Neg post. The charger will help keep the battery charged and should work fine.

Note: When you are not using the system, disconnect the power cables from the charger so that the charger does not cook your battery. (Overcharge) Leave the HU wired up to the battery as normal so station memory, clock and other stored features are intact.

I do this with a modest sub amp, (300 + RMS) and it seems to perform just swell.
