Sorry guys clintone here the ride is a 1998 ford explorer four door 4.0 245cid 220hp 250torque still working on more hp. A body kit and drop it 2in". I need a system that will drive out of the truck in quick hurry. Replies (25) swez on 07/7/2009 09:06:45 OK, that's a start as this truck can do some neat things. Quote: "I need a system that will drive out of the truck in quick hurry." Can you be more specific? I have no idea what you mean. Swez MrBrownstone on 07/7/2009 11:40:13 I think I just accidentally turned the mutha out. Oh wait, my mistake. I just took a hella good dump. swez on 07/7/2009 14:52:03 Oh really? (Too much info) TMI... That's mighty nice of you to share your glee while pinchin' a loaf. clintone74 on 07/7/2009 17:01:49 I have ran in the past around 700watts. Now that won't do i need more alot more. butt not to much. ttocs on 07/7/2009 17:08:01 I built my system in my mustang with the idea that I can pull it out when I needed. With a little bit of planning you can make it no problem. swez on 07/8/2009 07:39:04 When you say 700 watt system installed before and wanting more now, much of that depends on several things: 1. Efficient Class D amps are ~80% effcient and recommended for sub 2. Amping the mid/high? 3. Adequate power to run a larger system 4. High efficiency sub(s) and a port tuned enclosure These are the key parts to obtain high SPL and still have a very clean and balanced sound system. FYI: If we double the power of an amp, (500 watts RMS) to a 1000 watt version, we pick up about +3 dB more SPL. When porting the sub(s), we pick up another +3 dB. Another thing that helps, use sound dampening inside the vehicle to limit air leaks and panel rattles. Cabin gain for a truck like this will be about +12dB above 55 Hz. That means a single 15" sub or dual 12's can provide plenty of bass SPL when done well. Comments? Swez clintone74 on 07/8/2009 15:11:06 Hey clintone here dam swez you the man nice response. I ll get back here on this i have call to go to. swez on 07/8/2009 15:21:00 OK, we are making some progress. In the mean time, think the comments above through carefully and set a budget. "Went to the dam man to get some dam water... Dam man said he won't give us any dam water... Said to the dam man... all right... keep your dam water and I'll buy some Aquafina anyway". SMILE Dam Man Swez clintone74 on 07/8/2009 17:01:28 Ok i'm back ihad to go pick my family. 700watts was not enough i want big power i want dual amp's dual sub's. I came across megaloud.com i you know of the product line can you tell what you think. What i found out didn't sound bad butt i dont know technical stuff. I want to. clintone74 on 07/8/2009 17:05:43 A budget if i can get the money will 2,000 be a good start. If not i will need more time. If i dont get the money i don't know when i will. swez on 07/8/2009 18:17:57 OK, looked at megaloud.com and see the VX-1600.1 has some nice features. The problem here, their subs don't mate well with this amp. The Inferno 12" or 15" subs look like a winner, but not well-paired with any amps from megaloud. (What's that all about?) Not familiar with this brand or their reliability and meeting specs or not? Would you be open to using a well known brand name like Kicker on this project? Since you have a good budget number, you can buy 1 amp and one L7 sub for now and if more bass is required, add another amp/sub later? Another thing to consider here, the power source will need some upgrades if you go with dual amps and subs. The stock electricals under the hood will not feed a pair of 750.1's adequately. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_2068ZX7501/Kicker-08ZX750-1.html?showAll=N&tp=115 (Amp) http://www.crutchfield.com/p_206812L74/Kicker-Solo-Baric-L7-Series-08S12L74.html?showAll=N&tp=111 (Sub) Yes, you can find these items cheaper online too. Just a little google searching will get the prices down. Look here: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/ Comments/questions? Swez clintone74 on 07/9/2009 20:49:41 Clintone here sounds good i'll have to see if my 130amp alt. cant handle the current draw. I was thinking the mega loud amps seem ok i had a chance to talk to the owner of the site. He told me the line is fine it is new and has to get knowen. This is total lack of info on my past replys. I'm sort of promoting the megaloud site sorry my bad on the past info. I have not been able to buy the megaloud system so i don't know how the the product will perform. I don't have the money at this time to buy i belive the megaloud line will be fine. The kicker line is bad ass i know some people how have some intense systems. I can look in to some other top names in car audio. I don't know how my box will work never biult one so i'm winging it electrical you bet retired mech. so were good there the power draw from the truck it's self is not bad so the left over power should be plenty. Sub's if i ran four 12's vx-12.1 two amp's vx-800.2 2 channel that should be enough. If the product dose bad then scrap the project and start over. swez on 07/10/2009 10:26:45 Most vehicles need about 50-60 amperes of current to perform the most basic functions of fuel delivery, HVAC, lighting and computer control functions. If a truck has a trailer towing package, they ramp up the power available to give more wiggle room for current grabbing devices. In this case, you have maybe 60-70 amperes of power to play with for the amps and electrical gear to be added later. I don't mind the soft-pitch for Megaloud products, but we don't know much about that line to date and if you go that route, you're the test model for this product line. If you are lucky, they may sponsor you and give nice discounts or freebies to help market their line. I think the bass engine of choice here, would be the VX-1600.1 amp and a pair of Inferno 12's. (I misread the specs and see this amp is infact 1 ohm stable) So, a pair of Inferno's will wire properly down to 1 ohm. (Their Performance Package) Me bad... read the specs wrong and now I see the light. The question here, how much current draw will this amp require when it's at full power? I'm betting on 120-150 A's. Can you confirm that data with Megaloud Techs? Swez clintone74 on 07/10/2009 16:20:23 I can call and find out i was told if my promoting takes off i can demo. Still haveing trouble wiht free ads it's all i can afford form's,blog's, free classifieds and some other way's to promote. If i do this i'll have to pay less to theme. I'll find out what you want to know. talk at ya on the flip side. swez on 07/10/2009 16:48:35 Right, promoting something that is untested or new to the marketplace is a catch 22 scenario. They need word of mouth to spread and have others check out the products. They also need some demo products in the field to show and test performance to find any flaws or issues that can be revised later. (Tweaking... if you will) The benefit is mutual if they offer a price break and you demo for them and have some literature handy for others to take home and perhaps a price list. Just make sure those who get the info track back to your efforts. (Say a unique promo code) That identifies you as the agent when a potential buyer uses that promo code. Good luck with the process and think like a marketing person, Swez Victor on 07/10/2009 16:52:49 Hey... I dunno how you would take this.. I am not discouraging you ... but... Thinking logically with regards to the present scenario, in such an economic crunch... To who would a new brand give freebies of such a huge amount?? 1 - A dealer/distributor who is ready to invest in holding an inventory of their products with exposure to one or more retail outlets. 2- A well known Installer who regulars drags and sound offs. 3- Make a demo vehicle themselves. 4- To the 'Media' which gives them a wide coverage and generates actual sales. 5 - To high volume sale online sites. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Every company has calculative brains which evaluate the return on the investment they have done in you, until and unless you don't fall in either of these categories.... it is not really a very attractive deal they would wanna strike with you..specially if you're talking about $2000 worth of freebies.. at the max they can afford to give you is a distributor rate for each product, which is 50% off the MSRP ... don't get disappointed by my reply though.. u never know when a company changes its mind and tactics... this was just some loud thinking i did.... Peace ... COFFEE .. Welcome to CK Victor... swez on 07/11/2009 09:45:01 Rainmaker... shut off the cold water buckets a minute OK? GRIN Victor makes some solid points and somewhere in between his ideas and mine, there's ground to plow and seeds to sew. A lot depends on the company size and how their business model is structured right now. If this were a large company and millions of dollars invested on inventory to sell, Vic's approach is pretty much the bottom line. If the company is small and looking to build a business from a limited base and low overhead, they may be willing to take on a sponsorship if one can convince them of a well-planned install and lots of visability which leads to bigger sales opportunities later. (3-6 months) Basically, you'd have to be able to deliver as a Marketing Agent for new sales. That means doing a great install job and being willing and able to network the local/regional community as a Marketing Rep. In this tight economy, some companies will take calculated risks if they believe there will be a good return on their investment. (Notable sales and pre-sales orders) It may not be easy, but it's worth a try. The worst that can happen, they offer you some discounts, give the needed support for marketing tools and it does not pan out. Then, you either pay them for the goods and have learned something in the process or return the goods if it does not pan out. Think about this carefully and then make your best pitch, Swez Victor on 07/11/2009 14:49:13 If you are trying to make a career out of this.... Then it is better to negotiate with them to have you on the companies pay-roll as a Marketing Executive for your particular area/region..... Then go with their products to dealers and distributors and put in your best effort to shelf your products...., meanwhile pitch one to the upper management that you would need a demo car to market their products and "it is a very effective means of advertising and makes it real easy convincing the dealer to sell OUR products in the market"...... Offer your car saying... Here I can do up my car for you, AND .... I wont charge a penny for it .... ... GRIN ... and ofcourse..... carry on with your career in a similar fashion ... GRINGRINGRIN I mean.. lol.. its a win win situation for both the parties... what more could one ask ??? swez on 07/12/2009 11:24:30 That's a great plan for a guy who is planning to market and become a Distributor for several lines down the road. How long did it take you to build a network of vendors and support to grow your biz? (2 years?) Swez Victor on 07/12/2009 13:45:00 3.... but i have worked in a different manner...as india is a way different market and I was in good touch with most big names in the market.... production and importing car entertainment accessories was the area i worked in... hence it was a different case.. but with people I meet at the company level, are people who have made a career in such a manner... and I found it quite an interesting approach.. Victor... swez on 07/12/2009 14:15:38 Roger that... 3 years sounds about right and India is an new and emerging market for such things. Here in the USA, we have experienced a major market saturation period, decline in disposable income and many have lost well-paying jobs. Hense, these items are not on the "A" list to buy and bother with. Kids cannot find decent paying jobs this summer and older folks are getting the low wage jobs kids used to enjoy during summer breaks. We hope that changes in 2010, but for now... many markets are tight or retracting until they feel we are moving forward again. Swez clintone74 on 07/12/2009 15:25:26 Clintone here i feel the same way about the market. I'm thinking about buying the megaloud.com web site if i get the loan. A new product may be profitable i hope i will be opening 3 retail store's as well so i'm trying to get a business plan done and geting a crash course in business. Not fun at all i'm loveing this site all you are helping me and im starting to get some were now. You guy's are so highly knowledged i'm impressed. On the other sites as i say i get slamed to the wall with bull **** and no knowledge. I would be stuck with out your help thank you to all helping me. swez on 07/12/2009 16:45:15 Well, we're probably older guys, (I'm 53) and things have been pretty tough in most of the US since 2007. The Car Audio market has changed dramatically in the past 3.5 years and many of the big players have sold out, fallen off the map or been biting their nails to the nubs to see if they can hang on for a while longer. Vic has given a good overview of his Business Plan on a modest budget and a thriving/growing market. We are in a declining market that has been soft and stagnant for some time. (2 years) If I could not get a small biz grant that is not attached to performance or has to be paid back with interest, I would not enter this market right now. Things are just too shaky for now and with declining employment numbers expected to grow another 1.5% or more before we hit bottom, this is not a great time to launch a biz that is not essential to a mass market of kids with flush wallets. Even the Big Players are offering big discounts to drive sales and that means profits are low too. In a nutshell, if you wanted to open a few stores or even e-tail sites in the future, use this time to observe the market signs, develop a business plan and look for some financial partners or grants to keep your nest egg in tact. Swez clintone74 on 07/15/2009 15:45:42 I see your point real clear and understand. I'm not to worred about the car audio i'm not giong to invest to much into it with that said i'm not investing to much into any of my products so i will be able to sell it all. This way i have less overhead expense so i can profit more. Thats why i'm geting into three diffrent retail store's and selling clintone74 on 07/15/2009 15:51:00 At whole sale so i can sell all my iventory or hope to and make my bill's on time. See you on the flip side need to go to a meeting. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
