I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant and want to replace my factory speakers with new speakers. Can someone tell me if the following speakers would be good for me to get? I just want to get the speakers, no amp or anything like that. I am getting these speakers brand new at a great price. FRONT DOORS: Sony XS-GTX1640 6.5" 4-Way Power Handling (RMS) : 75 Watts Power Handling (MAX) : 300 Watts Sensitivity : 89dB Frequency Response : 30Hz~27kHz Impedance : 4-Ohms REAR DECK: Sony Xplod XS-GTX6930 Power range: 2-100 watts RMS (400 watts peak power) Frequency response: 28-25,000 Hz Sensitivity: 91 dB By the way, the front door is 6 1/2 and the rear deck is 6x9. The Piezo elements used in the 6.5" version will sound very harsh and not so musical. Many of us here at CK, prefer 2-way Coaxials with better quality components and outboard crossovers. Silk dome tweets sound most natural or metal domes for punching through the heavy bass. (Depends on the music you like best) What kind of budget do you have in mind for the speakers? Knowing that, we can try to locate a few options you'll enjoy. Swez xazilizax on 07/1/2009 13:04:27 I have some brand new Alpine SPS-600C speakers I am selling on ebay right now. I don't know if my car has tweeters already and don't know how/where to install them. I think I am going to cancel the auction and keep them. Thing is, I don't want to spend the money to have a shop install them if I know I can do it myself and don't really know anyone who can help me. I'm a girl, but a very smart girl :) so if I can have someone tell me how or supply a website that shows/tells me how, that would be great. I know for sure you all will say the Alpine is waaay better. he he xazilizax on 07/1/2009 13:05:38 To add, since it is a component system with separate tweeters, the tweeters are what's discouraging me. : / swez on 07/1/2009 20:27:39 The Alpine Comps you mentioned are much better than the Sony option. If you are not comfortable with cutting holes in the door or "A-Pillars", these can be mounted to the surface panels on your doors. A decent installer can do this for a modest price of say $40.00 for the pair. They have the tools and do this everyday. (Peace of mind) The other option is a pair of Coaxial type Comps you can install and still have good crossovers. These are an option: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPS600/Alpine-SPS-600.html?tp=105 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPR69C/Alpine-SPR-69C.html?tp=105 Questions/Comments?
