***OT: Michael Jackson goes ala Elvis***

Wow

I find myself torn between appreciating the music & the man--his life.

--Noone will deny Michael's accomplishments in furthering music beyond the invisible color barrier

--Noone will deny that Michael set the standards for music videos

--Noone will deny Michael's contributions to charitable causes.

--Noone will sell 47,000,000 copies of one record worldwide ever again.

Like Elvis, it's clear his health deteoriated because he had a combination of enablers, yes-men & drugs factoring into his demise.

If you separate the music from the man, you get a legend on par with Elvis.

If you separate the man from the music, you get a lonely boy with little or no childhood, who had social issues making him unable to find lifelong companionship. This lead to quirky behavior which ultimately brought him discredit personally and place him in legal jeopardy.

--Michael was accused many times, tried & acquitted
--No matter his legal success, like OJ, he'll be guilty in the minds of a large segment of the world

Michael Jackson R.I.P. 1958-2009

***He entered the world pennyless.
***He left the world in the same fashion.

Now we have another Icon of late night TV fame that has passed away at 50. Billy "Pitchman" Mays passed away on Sunday AM in his home and there are no specific reasons noted for his death.

Like em, neutral or turn it off, Billy was a master at his profession.

RIP... Billy,

I am sooo happy that I will not need to mute his commercials anymore.

I am betting either cocain or the slap chop guy did it.

I made a determination the day Michael kicked it that if you grew up with Michael (70s & 80s) you saw him as a groundbreaking, dominating unstoppable juggernaut who ran into trouble later in life.

If you grew up in the 90s...errr....he was that creepy old guy that tried to dye his skin white & had more plastic surgery than Mr Potatohead.

Either way, he's a cautionary tale of how a family should properly raise their children before thrusting them into the spotlight rather than thrusting your children into the spotlight...then letting fame raise them.

As far as Billy Mays, it's hard to badmouth a guy whom sold you pretty much everything you own. Did that guy EVER have a losing infomercial?

The slap chop guy....he's alright but is suffering from getting his tongue nearly bit off by a kinky hooker.

Swez, when I go, just shoot me & put me out of my misery. I wanna go like Old Yeller

Grew up on the Motown side of the Jackson and they were OK as a family gig, but Lil' Michael was being groomed to be the star. As he got older, his real talents emerged and he had great handlers to guide him into the lime light. His music and dance style took off to the moon.

As the 70's past to the 80's, MJ just got even better. I was not a real fan of Pop back then, but there was something magical about what he did for MTV.

As for the other oddities that came later, well... his "whiteness" seems to be a result of some kind of medical condition and not him tinkering with skin pigments.

Frankly, a guy with his fame and talent would be hard to roam the streets w/o being mobbed by fans. Like many mega-stars, he became a recluse and bought Neverland Ranch as his personal amusment park and hide-a-way. (Not a bad deal if one can afford it) But he also shared that ranch with other kids that could appreciate a fun weekend and a once in a lifetime dream gift. All the allegations of what went on there? Who really knows the truth on that matter???

Anyway Mr. B., when your day comes, hope I never live to see it. If I go before you, want my ashes spread around a few of my favorite fishing spots and a golf coarse in WI. It was the best round of my life with several birdies, 1 Double Eagle, 1 Eagle and an Ace. (Shot a 4 over par 76 that day) OK, not so hot by Pro standards, but it was a day
to remember for an average duffer who can't putt worth a hoot.

Am not bragging here, (Well maybe a little bit) but hey, when one plays out of their mind and 5 shots under handicap, that's one hella good day to remember. GRIN

TTOCS... I don't rent women, I give them half

SWEZ... Just shoot me now

The day Swez starts using terms like 'Hella Good' is reason enough for me not to want to live any longer

Sorry B... was not trying to push you further toward the brink of emotional abyss.

Have a better way of saying... "It was the best game of my life and had a witness to verify the Ace too?"

For non-golfers, Ace means a Hole-in-One. It was a picture perfect shot, hit it flush and said to partner... "I think this one might go in"!!! Sure enough, it did. HAPPY CLAP

rent, pay, what ever it is all the same. I like charlie sheen's take on it. He said that he doesn't pay them to have sex with them, he pays them to go away......

Flame on swez!

Think Charlie has a point there. Perhaps we should start a sidebar on the forum... "The Hey-Man... Women confuse Us Club?

Scott's right... this is the "Men's Department". Ladies ware, cosmetics and all things women buy are on floor numbers 1-4. Men's ware is located on a tiny plot in the lower level and so are tools and gardening supplies.

Mr. B: Very clever epiagram or is that acrostic? (Schwing partner?)

Ever notice a large department chain and how they allocate floor space for this and that? About 65-75 percent of the floor space is for women and kids, bed & bath and cooking supplies. The rest is a cubby hole for men's clothes and gadgets. (Say a Macy's)

IDEA !!! Now it makes sense why Obama wants to see more women getting degrees and going to work. Why? They are generally the driving engine behind retail sales. Therefore, more women w/ disposable incomes will pull us out of the dead zone in retail sales.

Think about that,
Swez

MrBrownstone on 07/2/2009 14:04:14
Nah.

He's just pandering because he's doing so poorly with men that he needs a beachhead..

I give him another 6 months....if he doesn't stop spending, the DINOs will turn on him.

I'd be better off if he just wrote me a check rather than borrow money from our future, give it to my employer---much of which goes to big salaries & waste.

I promise I'd put 100% of any stimulus money back into the economy ASAP.

I need a new wardrobe, some serious home furnishings, ....and who needs a scholarship program for Miss America? I'm putting 2, 3 broads through college as we speak over at Deja Vu'

CLAP

you support single mother huh? I always knew you were a humanitarian that was just financing this way of life through occasional trips to vegas......

I would love to be able to afford to support a single mother but I have too much other crap to worry about.
