I have an issue my factory deck works fine ..well it crackles when you turn it up but nothing major i cant handle i got a used JVC KD-G820 today i hooked evrything up and was looking for the left rear speaker i found it but it played for about 15 min then heard a loud pop like a small capgun and out went the power to the unit fried eclectonics was smelled in the air, im reall mad now i have hooked a pioneer up the same way in a 85 grandmarquis with no issues both cars have a factory amp What did i do wrong? Replies (1) swez on 06/11/2009 23:28:50 OUCH... try testing the JVC on a bench check to see if it still works. If it does work, then you can reinstall it after figuring out the other problems. If it's a dead duck, take it apart and look inside to find out why. (If you are handy and have the proper tools) The pop, burn smells are likely related and it could be a filter cap in the radio power supply or even a power trace on the PC board inside the radio that fried. These will go if miswired, an internal short or drawing too much power before the fuse blows. Yeah, I'd feel a bit ticked off too.
